TM SLDR mini driver TP reshaft

Hi gang -

Thinking of reshafting my mini TP 16* that has the stock Motore TS 7.3 in R flex. Thought it would be similar to my R5 TP with Diamana blueboard in R (actually a pretty firm shaft I can still control with quick transfer). Not the biggest fan of the way the mini balances and shaft flexes with the heavy head and want to even it out. When I look at this TM chart (https://www.justshopok.com/images/stories/GolfEquipment/TaylorMade/2014-Irons/standard--custom-shafts-options-2014.pdf) 7.3 seems to be in the low 60ish gram range and I would have thought more in the mid-70s.

Looking at doing either of the following:

1. Buying a 8.3 TS in R

2. Taking a spare TM R5 TP Diamana in S I have and tipping/butt cut to mini length. I’d probably err on side of slightly less tipping just in case TM already tipped it strong. I think this would be similar to 8.3 in R.

 

In general, what do you think of the above?

I would experiment with the spare shaft you have on hand first. It may work great, and be cheaper.

Thank you. That’s kind of where I’m leaning. The 8.3 is on some Deals site new for $25 shipped, so not a big deal either.
