Ohh so close

So I'm reading Paper Tiger for the first time. I'm to the part where he heads back to Florida to meet Dr Winters, the head shrink. The part that resonated with me is maintaining that high level of concentration on every shot. Don't start to wonder about past shots or the end result. So I'm out Sunday morning with my usual 4some, gonna try to ignore the end result. For the most part it went extremely well. For the exception of the first hole, felt like we were rushing for some reason, short of the green in 2, skulled my chip to a location where I can't get a full swing and 3 putt for a triple. Great... here we go but then I moved on and went +1 over the next 15 holes with 2 bogeys and 1 birdie (shot 39 front). 9 pars in a row with a couple of lip outs for bird and a rotation short for bogey on 15.

Then the wheels came off. I started thinking to myself... par in and I shoot 76 (have 2 78s in my history). Concentration went out the door. A pulled shot resulting in an unplayable, a top into the water off the tee, a push resulting in an unplayable and 2 skulls from the fairway resulting with the ball up next to a railroad tie in the back bunker plus a 3 putt. So I ended up double, triple, par and quad over the last 4 holes for a sloppy 85. Damnit so close.

I will control you you stupid brain... :)

Haha "stupid brain." That's what makes this game so much different than all the other team sports I've played. It's literally just you against yourself...and the course. Hopefully you break your record soon!

If you were gonna try to ignore the end result why on earth were you keeping track of your overall score? Play each shot, count up a score for the hole, have someone record the score then reset to zero. Add up the total when you are done not on hole 4, 9, 12, 15, 17 etc.
