Hello folks,

My name is Mike and I started playing golf two years ago. I'm 33 and work in the foodservice industry. I am opening up a cafe that specializes in roast beef sandwiches soon. I am first generation American and my parents are both from Greece.

I used to shoot over 110 in the beginning, but decided to get serious about golf in the last few months. I just broke my record and shot an 88 last weekend after taking lessons and practicing the basics. My instructor is J.D. at Bloomingdale golf course (The FL one, not the IN one). These are my clubs below. All are +.5" and stiff. I like them a lot, but as I'm chasing 80 now, I would like to get fitted and see what works best for me.

But the more important thing is, how are you all doing this fine evening?

Hey 57...greetings and welcome! An 88 is very nice shooting for only picking up the game two years ago...plus, opening up a new business, you probably don't have a lot of time to practice. Nice golf bag too!

Thanks a lot man! I played ice hockey as a defensive defenseman for about 20 years and I think that may have transferred over in some capacity. I also have lost about 50lbs in a year and a half. My idea for the cafe is a lunch only sandwich shop so I can have my passion for cooking and maybe be able to join a chicken league for some 9 hole evenings. I can't wait to get fitted properly and establish an official handicap. I think it's past due.

That sounds great...combining your two passions. :-) Props to you on the weight loss too. I have found that most people who have played hockey, do okay when it comes to golf. And yes, after two years it is time for a proper fitting. I had my first fitting after about two years after I picked up the game, and my standard clubs were way off.
