Short Leg Stand Bags

Recommended Posts

I'm very interested in these as well. I noticed in the specs for the new version of the Quiver that it has a larger top, which would theoretically move it slightly closer to being a "full set" bag rather than a Sunday bag.

2019 Quiver had 6.5 x 6 two-way top.

2020 Quiver has a 7.75 x 7 three-way top.

Callaway Hyperlite Pencil has 7.5" three-way top.

BR-D2 has 7" two-way top (with full length divider).

Most stand bags start around 9.5" top. I use jumbo grips, so my clubs are already a little crowded in my current bag (cart bag with 14 way top). I'd be hesitant about forcing 14 clubs with jumbo grips into an undersized bag, but I'd definitely like to get my hands on the 2020 Quiver or the Callaway to test the fit.

I have the Callaway HyperLite 1+ and love it for what it is. I could stuff 14 clubs (oversize grips) in if I had to, but it's pretty tight. 10-12 is about perfect. Has enough storage if you don't need to pack everything in your closet, plenty of room for the essentials. As others have said, the little legs are great for dewy mornings and/or wet conditions.

I have the Taylormade Quiver with the 3 way top, don’t really sacrifice much with this bag (but I do only use 11 clubs) If you want to be truly lazy, it goes on a push trolley or cart way better than you would imagine because it has a rigid construction and the base is really sturdy. The legs don’t interact with the base at all. I love it

I had a 2020(I think? It was the same one you included a picture of, but in black) Taylormade Quiver. I really liked the bag, and it could fit all 14 clubs without issue. Club tangle was also less of an issue than it is on my Ping Hoofer Lite, which is hard to believe. It was super light, and I used it primarily as a range bag, and also took it on a trip with me to Texas. Its great for carrying, and for riding. Never used it on a push cart so no comment on that end, but can't imagine I would have had any problems with it.

I ended up getting rid of it because the more I used it, the more I realized I wanted full length stand legs instead of the short legs. Now that it's gone, I do wish that I'd held on to it. Some small cons: It won't fit a ton of stuff in the pockets, but it will fit most of what you would need for a round. There's also no insulated drink pocket, but I just used my insulated Yeti bottle to keep my water cold. I bought a little pouch to hold tees/ball markers, small stuff and put that in the mesh pouch on the front. It also doesn't come with a rain hood, so if you play in wet weather often, I would get the Titleist Dri Hood or something similar.

Edit: Damn, just realized this is a 2 year old thread that was resurrected.

@Supr3m3 I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these bags but to your initial point, I'm thinking to myself why wouldn't I just get a regular sized stand bag. Any particular reason you're regretting getting rid of it?

It's just a lot lighter and a lot simpler than the Hoofer Lite. Kind of has the vibe of the Jones carry bags/pencil bags that a lot of walkers like, but with a few more quality of life improvements at a good price. I put a Stripebird magnetic landing hub for my rangefinder, and a golf ball holder on the Quiver, and it was the perfect walking bag for me. The Hoofer Lite is great too, but it is heavier, and does struggle a bit more with club tangle. The Quiver had club tangle a little bit, but it wasn't annoying or anything. For the Hoofer, I've found pulling the bag upright first before putting clubs back in helps with the tangle issue a lot).

If this is going to be your only bag, I honestly would recommend a regular stand bag. If this is going to be a second bag that you'll use for travelling/going to the range/walking par 3 courses or something, or you like the aesthetic/vibe of the Jones carry bags/pencil bags, the Quiver will do well for you. Per the Taylormade website, looks like they got rid of the Quiver from their lineup, and replaced it with the Flextech Carry? That bag has the leg lock magnets, so no leg droop issues. Might be a decent option if you're wanting something simple like the Quiver, but with full size legs?

@Supr3m3 Thanks for the insight. I actually have a Jones Trouper as my main bag, which I love and I walk/carry almost 90% of the time. I'm thinking of getting this as a second bag for a backup set that I have. I was thinking of the Quiver just to have something "different" and saw it going for cheap since I guess it's discontinued. I bought and quickly returned a Jones Utility Rover because as much as I wanted to like a carry bag, it just functionally didn't work for me. I play in the mornings and ground is always wet, headcovers getting dirty, and couldn't get used to the lack of structure on a carry bag.

If i don't end up pulling the trigger on the Quiver, I may just go with a Flextech Carry or Lite or maybe the Sunday Camino since I do gravitate towards more minimalist looking bags.

@TeeAreNY - The Quiver will definitely meet your needs then as the short legs keep the bag off the ground. I think you may find you'll still get splashes and such on the belly here and there, but it won't be as bad as just laying the bag down on the ground. Either way, the quiver or the flextech carry/lite look to be good choices. If you're going to get a Flextech bag though, I think there's a lot more options on the stand bag market to look at as well.

@Supr3m3 I generally like the look of the Flextech Carry (the new one with the script TM logo), Sunday El Camino. I'm generally stay away from the OEM bags with lots of logos and branding and Vessel/Stitch bags with the synthetic leather aren't really my style. The only brand I can live with the large branding is Nike, haha. Any others you recommend?
