Best bag for push cart?

Looking for opinions on what bag works best for you on a push cart and why you’ve found that to be the case.

The answer to this depends on whether or not you are ever going to carry, or if you will only use a push cart or ride.

If you are going to carry sometimes, then get a carry bag that does NOT have a piece sticking out from the bag that extends the stand legs; that will cause problems with the way the bag sits on the platform of the push cart. If you have a Clicgear cart, they sell two attachments meant to deal with this, which work well enough, given the extra $$ it will cost you.

On the other hand, if you are only going to use the push cart and not carry, but still want a stand for the parking lot or range, then look for a bag labeled "hybrid". Those bags are bigger than a carry bag, with much more storage. Callaway makes a version of the C130 with a stand, Ogio has a good hybrid bag, and I've sort of fallen in love with the Bagboy Chiller that I got about a couple of years for just this reason. The Bagboy is specifically designed for push cart use, so the pockets are all in the right place, plus it has some extras; a pocket where the strap tucks away while you play, and a removable insulated bag that holds up to 4 cans. When I bought the bag, I didn't think I'd use that cooler bag; now, with no water on golf courses due to the Pandemic, it's a life-saver. Plus, in addition to being a really well-made bag designed specifically for push carts, it's quite a bit cheaper than the big OEM's, and doesn't have a giant logo on the side.

If you aren't going to carry and you don't care about the stand, the C130 by Callaway is a really good bag in between a carry bag and a staff bag in size. It's also possible that some new stuff has hit the market in 2020 that I haven't seen, since I haven't been in a golf store in a couple of months now.

The ping traverse is perfect. Only way to make it better is if it was truly waterproof. One of the most important features is the shape of the top and how the back isn’t high like most cart bags so wedges hang properly when mounted on the cart. I just take the the 15 seconds and swap to a 2.5+ or Sunday bag when I choose to carry.

I would add that if you use a Bag Boy cart, specifically the Quad models, then carry bags with an external foot fit just fine. the bottom of those carts is designed to not interfere.

Sun Mountain Sync is designed specifically for push carts.

Ping Pioneer would work well on a push cart.

I wouldn't carry either one.

The pocket configuration of most cart bags don't work well on push carts.

Can you explain why the pockets on a cart bag wouldn’t work well on a push cart? I use a ping traverse and they are perfect. Most cart bags have very similar pocket setups.

What I should have said was the rim height and pocket configuration of some cart bags don't work as well on a pushcart.

Look at the angle and uneven height of the top rim of a Sun Mtn c130. Then look at the fairly flat top rim found in a Sun Mtn Sync, ping pioneer and ping traverse.

Many cart bags have the top rim at an angle with the low side being on the side where you access the pockets. When on a riding cart the lower side of the rim and the pockets are easily reached when standing behind the cart.

The short irons can then be in the front lower section of the bag with woods in the back.

On a push cart I want the wedges on the bottom of the bag with the longest clubs at the top of the bag. If the wedges were in the top, the heads would be banging into shafts of the clubs below them.

If you set a C130 on a pushcart with the pockets easily accesable on top, the high rim is on the bottom. Wedges and short irons will then be hanging up on the rim of the bag.

Ok. I thought you meant the gear pockets. The uneven tops is the exact reason I picked the traverse. I wanted the clubs to sit just like they do in a carry bag while on the cart with nothing banging into shafts.
