Iron Recommendation for Floaty Player

Hey All!

I’m looking to buy some new or used irons for this year and I’m curious about your rec’s. I’d usually go for a fitting but, with the circumstances going on I’m unable to right now. A little info: Currently playing some no name hand-me-down irons and ready to upgrade. No handicap but usually in the low to mid 80’s. I had an iron fitting last year so I know my general specs (PX 6.5, 62 lie angle.) 120mph driver ss and 34 degree 7 iron travels 180-185. The problem I have is I’m a steeper player and any shot into wind tends to balloon and loose huge distance. Looking for something with traditional(ish) lofts for gaping with some forgiveness without a bunch of weight at the bottom as not to increase launch. I look forward to what you think! Thanks!

Plenty of options in club heads... you’ll want a more basic cavity back as you certainly don’t need the distance.

ping makes great stuff and it’s easy to get in standard lofts...are you looking new or used? I’m really happy with my sub70 and a new set with upgraded shafts and midsize grips came in for less than $700.

cavity backs and muscle backs aren’t designed to help get the ball up, but will spin more.

Pretty good. I can consistently find middle, although my short game is atrocious

Plenty of options out there. Titleist 620 cb/mb, t100 are my personal favorites this year, and im gaming a t100/cb combo. For a real steeper swing srixon z forged/785 are a good choice, little bit bulkier head, but the soles help steeper attacks. In the mizuno lineup i prefer the mmc.
