Titleist question

I had a 983K, which had an aftermarket fitted Speeder 757 in it. ie not the Titleist speeder. The little plug in the middle of the red bits in the sole came undone (it's threaded :tongue: ) and went inside the head, making it rattle. This became somewhat irritating. I sent it back to Titleist and they came back and said there's nothing they can do about it. They'll credit me for a new one. I asked my pro to remind them I had the special shaft in it. They said that was fine. Unfortunately at this point, they'd stopped making the 983k and I had to wait until the 905t came out. When it came out, they said they'd destroyed the old club and shaft and would only credit me for a standard one.

 

Since then, it transpires that because it had a shaft that wasn't standard, it shouldn't really have been covered under Titleist's warranty and I actually did quite well out of the deal, but I felt a bit miffed about them destroying the 757 and not either offering it back to me or crediting me for a new one. Since it costs well over the odds of the Titleist Speeder, I thought that was a little unreasonable.

 

That said again, I'm happy with the new club, so no regrets, I just wonder what people think about that one.

Most OEM's won't warranty a club if there is an aftermarket shaft installed...in Canada anyway.  But they should have told you this before you sent the club back.

That's what I mean. They still gave me a brand new 905T with a grafalloy blue for about $30. I think in retrospect I got a very good deal off Titleist.

You got extremely lucky by getting an upgrade from Titleist. I used to play the 975J for most of my years and I developed a pattern of cracking the face about every 5-6 months. Titleist would always put a new head on it but ti got irritating having to send it in and wait to get it back which took any where from 2-4 weeks. After the 983 came out I kept asking them to upgrade me to this model and they refused. I even offered to pay any expense for the upgrade and they had a stern NO that that wasn't there policy. Needless to sat I have not played Titleist drivers since then.

Now all you Titleist hoes out there are sure going to comment but I tell you I was the biggest Titleist Hoe out there and played there equipment for 20 years and was very diasapointed to say the least in there reaction.

So I think you got a good deal even though they did destroy your shaft........ :tongue:
