Cincinnatti Golf

Hi,

My son moved to Cincinnati from England this year. When the pandemic subsides, my wife and I would like to visit him and play some golf together. Which courses in the area are worth playing and what time of year should we visit?

There are several good courses in the Cincinnati area. I am sure I am missing some, but here are a few I would recommend:

Stonelick Hills

The Vineyard

Legendary Run

Lassing Pointe

Links at Rising Star

Belterra Golf Club

There are also several really nice country club courses here if you can get on one. Camargo is ranked the #44 course in the country.

As for when, it depends on what kind of weather you want to play in. From November to March, it could be below freezing. July and August are typically hot and muggy. The nice months to visit are likely May/June and then September/October.

Big fan of Sharon Woods and Blue Ash.

Cinci has some very good muni and county courses.

Thanks for the tips. I've just discovered that his condo backs onto Wyoming Golf Club. Any opinions?

Unfortunately, I have never played there so I can't give a personal perspective on it.

I agree with all of these, but I would also add Blue Ash Golf Course to near the top of the list!

Wyoming is a good little 9-hole track. Pretty straightforward and usually in good shape, although I can't speak to conditions this year as it was a brutal month of July.

Not sure if you have any connection to private courses (or a PGA pro who can call on your behalf), but if so, you could pretty easily get on to Maketewah or TPC River's Bend. Both are some of the best layouts in the area.

The aforementioned public tracks are all very solid. If you don't mind driving a little, Shaker Run and Heatherwoode are both about 30-45min drives from Wyoming and are excellent public courses. Shaker's conditioning can be iffy at times, but they just aerated a week ago so I assume the greens will be healed up nicely fairly soon.
