I’d skip a belt sander and buy a precision caliper. Measure and get exact OD of ferrule you need from a place with selection like Grail Golf. If there is a small variation at hosel then smooth correct by spinning club in fingers with acetone soaked t shirt strip. If you loose gloss in the process then use a polishing wheel with blue compound for polishing plastic. Honestly, the polishing wheel is what makes them look glossy like from factory and hides mistakes from using acetone or turning with a belt.

Since this thread was revived I want to add that I haven't gone near any ferrule with acetone in many years. The belt sanders are cheap and my preference is to use the blue felt belts instead of the linen. After turning down the ferrule to size, all you need to do is clamp the club and use a microfiber cloth to polish the ferrule (used in a "shoe shine" manner). It's just really easy to accidentally screw up a ferrule with acetone (there is definitely a skill and technique to ensure that you are consistent in your spinning and do not create ""groove marks"). Once that happens you too are screwed and you will either have to live with it or pull the head and try again.

Hi, to manually turn a ferrule that is slightly oversized , place the club in a vise, add a drop of acetone onto a linen cloth ferrule turning belt and use the shoe shine method. To shine the ferrule, use Blue Away (containing grit) to blend then Flitz Metal/Plastic Polish on a linen cloth. Finish using a micro fiber cloth to buff. You'll get a much deeper finish than the cheaper looking high gloss that results from acetone.
