I'd like to know how this shaft compares with my GD YS-6 stiff. The specs for this shaft seem to fit my swing and flight profile.

I have played a little over 3 rounds with this shaft so far and I am very impressed with its performance. This shaft has a ton of kick! I am also amazed with accuracy of this shaft especially considering the shafts light weight. I am hitting towering drives with it and the ball takes off like a rocket. I got this shaft and driver head to use for captain and crew tournaments for when I need to hit it high and I think I am going to be very pleased with it!

I am definitely a quick tempo guy and have played 3 rounds with an FT3 Tour with a speeder 652. I have been using mostly 757 and diamana 83 lately. I can see the difference in dispersion in all directions but this shaft holds up pretty well. I feel that it may give a little more kick and a few extra yards then the heavier high end options. So far so good. I like the shaft.

Did you every find out if the 652 Triax is a softer shaft than the 652 Speeder Tour Spec?

I had a Taylor Made 320Ti driver reshafted with a SPEEDER 652 Regular flex (with the Triax Engine graphics) back in 2004 at the Fujikura studio (Club Consultation Room) in Kiba, Tokyo. It came out to 320g and 250cpm (my current G10 TFC570D "S" is 303g & 243cpm).

According to the Fujikura site in Japan, none of the current SPEEDERs have the "Triax Engine" graphics, and the specs of the SPEEDER 652 and TOUR SPEC SPD-652 are the same, except for the approx. $20 difference in price -- the TOUR SPEC is more expensive.

http://www.fujikurashaft.jp/speeder/lineup.html

http://www.fujikurashaft.jp/tourspec/index.html

Also, the "deflection curves" are virtually identical (the GIF files themselves are not):

http://www.fujikurashaft.jp/tourspec/img/s...r_652_img02.gif

http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5429008.html

So, for the Japan domestic 652s, if the information at Fujikura's site is accurate, I think the SPEEDER 652 and the TOUR SPEC SPD-652 should be quite the same.

However, there seems to be no 652"EX" TOUR SPEC in Japan, but since the EX is described as a Mid bendpoint (as opposed to "Tip" in the domestic two) and have different weights etc., the 652s and the 652EX TOUR SPEC probably are different. I can't help here...

Enjoy,

Hi, I am trying to make a decision. I recently bought a Hibore with the fujikura tour spec 26.3 in. It feels pretty good, but I am minded to get the 652 for my Hibore XL. Then again, I am thinking it is more sensible to have the same shaft in both drivers, as the hibore is meant to be the back up to the XL.

Anyone played both shafts? Any views on difference in feel, launch? Thanks in advance.

My first aftermarket shaft experience, and I am a believer now.

As a result of a fitting that went more than just a little wrong, I had a Ping G10 with a UST ProForce V2 HL in R-Flex, at the standard 45.75" length. It turned out that I am one of the few persons who actually swing a lot faster on the course than on a launch monitor (at least if I know that I am on a LM), and consquently, I hit it high and long, but also 30 yards left and right. Frustrating, as driving it straight had always been a stronger part of my game.

However, I did not want to give up on the G10 head and in the winter Speeder 652 Tour Spec shafts with .350 tips were available on ebay from reputable sellers (frgusa e.g.) for just under $100. Fujikura does not produce them anymore with the .350 tip, but you can get new ones. After doing some research, I decided that this shaft could be right for my real life mid to high 90s swing speed with a slow transition and a gradual build-up of speed, so I took a chance.

Now, I have the 652 EX Tour Spec in the G10 in S-Flex, at 45", with the head made heavier, so that the swingweight is D2. It is most amazing how long this combo goes and how it seems virtually impossible to lose it left or right. In the 4 rounds I have used it so far, I hit almost every fairway and I have also hit the longest drives ever on my home course, and not just once or twice, but on a regular basis. I also played it on a very narrow course I had never played before, where you cannot really see any landing areas because of all the bunkers and water hazards that close in on the fairways from left and right, but the results were spectacular, as well.

It feels incredible and it kicks just at the right moment everytime, but most of all, it is incredibly consistent and straight.

BTW the V2 HL, tipped 1", is in my Callaway X 3wood now at 43", and it works perfectly as well.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Found an older Fujikura 652 Speeder S flex in the garage, put it in a Titleist 909 D2 9.5* that came with a Matrix XCon 5 S flex (which felt like a noodle). First round with it missed only two fairways, but a lot of the drives with it were great, and some didn't even feel like I put that great of a swing on them. Glad I looked around in the garage! It is smooth without feeling boardy, but it isn't soft feeling either. Getting a nice trajectory (not too high, not too low) as well as a little run out that I wasn't getting with a 907 D2 with a Grafalloy Pro Launch Red S.

I like it a lot.

Reply from Fujikura----------There is a slight material difference, but no difference in specifications or playability between the 652 Speeder "Triax Engine" and the 652 EX Tour Spec shafts.

Great shaft. Me and my 110 club head speed probably wouldn't be called smooth and if I hadn't hit one at a demo day nobody would have recommended it for me. I would like to think my swing is smooth and the mphs are due to my 6'6" frame but I do go after it and this shaft holds up beautifully. I have tried a number of the swinger shafts and couldn't get any of them off the deck. The 652 has a great launch angle and the dispersion couldn't be tighter. The only problem is the trouble/trees at my course is 5 yard off the fairway and wide open 15 yrs off. Great shaft.
