Title says it all... are they the same shape?  Size differences?  Bigger/smaller than PP58 midsize?

The Red Star is a little bit smaller than the PP58 midsize. The overall profile/shape is extremely similar. If you were measuring size between the Pingman and PP58 midsize, it'd come in between those two, but definitely closer to the midsize.

The Lamkin Sink Fit Skinny is almost the exact same size and shape as the PP58 Midsize, if anyone is wondering. Like nearly identical.

So I've been doing a LOT of grip experimenting recently. I don't know if these pictures will help, but the first two are comparing the Red Star to the PP58 Midsize, then the next two are the Red Star and the Pingman. Then finally there's a rough comparison that goes basically in order of smallest to largest (IMO) with the Golf Pride Players Wrap, Red Star, Lamkin Deep Etched, and Golf Pride Tour SNSR Contour 104cc.

That was an awesome comment, thank you for the heads up.  I just recently switched all my grips to Lamkin so I actually just ordered the Sink Skinny Blue (need a bit of color lol)

Great comparison pictures. I currently use the pro only red star grip with 1 to 3 wraps of tape on most of my putters. My back ups for slow greens and heavier putters have the SNSR grip. I may have to give the ping P58 midsize a try as it has the right profile and should be between the red star and SNSR 104 in size and weight.

I didn't realize the shadows were as apparent when I was taking the pictures - I hate coming across these threads years later and finding no information. I might try retaking them at some point as a resource for the community kind of deal.

I was actually using the Red Star with three wraps for a while and it definitely felt close to the Ping Midsize. The only reason I took it off was to go back to a regular rubber grip. I'm finding that I'm not a huge fan of corded putter grips.

I was using the PP58 midsize pretty exclusively on my putters until I discovered the Red Star.  I like the feel and feedback I get from the Red Star a bit more.  The PP58 mid is great but, to me, the Red Star even better...

I ordered the Lamkin Sink Skinny... I'm gonna give it a go.  If I don't like it I will be trying the Red Star.

It is very similar.  The PP58 mid is just slightly bigger but not by a lot.

I've had both and the rubber feels better in my hands on the PP58 mid, I little softer and tackier IMO

Old Post revival, what were everyones thoughts on lamkin deep etched vs the pp58 and Red Star?

Different shapes. Deep etched is bigger and a touch more angular. Wider flatter front surface. Feels best to me fit wise of those but my hands are on the larger side of medium.

i really like the red star too.

Different shapes and it's going to come down to personal preference. I've gotten to the point where I put the PP58 Mid on every putter I own

I just recieved my pp58 cord that I’ll put on my Anser 3. I’m looking for the closest thing to Ping pp58 for my Tad Moore Pro 1 P, so I’ve narrowed it down to Red Star and Lamkin (my ocd won’t allow Ping on non ping putter). I guess I just need to drive the hour to pgass to give em a feel. Although part of me still wants to just have the original Tad Moore grip removed and re-installed to keep it original (need to cut shaft down 1.5”).
