They’re still out there, if you look hard enough

Now where did you pick that up, and what are you going to do with it?

And is "C" flex like extra stiff?

Not sure what I’m going to do with it, but couldn’t pass up the chance to get one.  As much as I enjoy seeing these refinished to a high level I always ask myself, “how many are left in this condition?”   Maybe this one needs to keep its original finish.

And the 1955 Macgregor catalog calls the Tourney C shaft “a medium stiff pattern preferred by tournament players”.  So I’d say stiff+.

That is a very nice example.  Like most everyone here I'd sure love to have one of those.  Good for you for scoring a sweet one!

Thanks SwingingK!

I remember a few years ago I saw two come up for sale around the same time and I didn’t buy them.  Haven’t seen any for sale in quite some time.

They don't come up often is right.  They have become a bit of a collectors item for sure.

With everything from cars to guitars the question always looms:  to restore or not to restore.  Particularly good examples are good to keep original whereas those that need extra lovin' are where the question becomes more difficult.  Personally I'd think yours is an excellent piece to restore as it's not overly "pristine" in its current condition and the wood looks really nice.  That being said I think I'd enjoy it as-is for a while myself.  Why not?  You can always work on it later right?

Either way it's a beautiful club in my eyes.  😃

Wow, crown jewel.  If your going to play it, restore it so nothing bad, or unexpected happens to it, if no plans to play it I would leave it alone with that beautiful patina.  Great score.

This is pretty much the approach I’m taking.   I have plenty other persimmon woods to play right now so I’ll just let this one keep its age spots it’s earned after 66 years for a little while longer.

If I end up deciding I want to play it it will get a restoration.

Can't stop looking at that first picture... face in fantastic condition and how it sits at address, ug, just a really special club you found there.

The scoring lines still have what appears to be original red paint.

D8 is a manly swingweight indeed.  I'll bet you can really feel the clubhead when you swing it.  Nice.

I took it to the range and hit 3 balls with it.  Ball flew pretty much as expected, low line drive flight due to the tall face and higher center of gravity.   Admittedly, I also teed the ball very low to not hit any sky balls off the crown. 😁

Excellent!  That settles it I guess - tee it high and LFF!  Lol  😂
