Cutting KBS TSI 70 .370 parallel shafts

Recommended Posts

Never change weight for the sake of stiffness.   A good fit for weight is generally way more important than for stiffness.  That's one of the downsides of the KBS shafts.  You can't change one without changing the other as well.  If one happens to be the right combination for you, that's great.  But if it isn't, you're more commonly better off going with a different make/model shaft.

I'm re shafting my irons and I want to make a set of shafts that are somewhere between a regular and a senior.  How much less do I remove from the tips than what the KBS website reccomends.  Thanks for any help.

The 70's are already virtually a senior flex shaft (3.0) at the recommended tipping.   Have you tried / demo'd one at that recommended tipping yet?   If so, how did it feel?

The 80 is closer to a weak reg flex or strong senior flex (4.0) (although keep in mind what I said above).

And it's also important to understand that flex (butt frequency) is a very unreliable way to judge or predict how a shaft will feel.  So any adjustments to the recommended tipping should always be based on how the shaft feels during actual testing.   If you want to soften/stiffen it up just a little bit, do a single soft/hard step.  If you want it a bit more noticeable (but not significant), soft/hard step x2.   If that's not enough you should be looking at a different shaft model.

the 70s feel and play way stiffer than 3.0 to me more like  4.5 or more. The low torque does that

In no way do the 70s play like  Senior flex, having tried them in nice hot weather

in my opinion at any rate

It's not the torque.    There is no standard for how the different flexes should play.

Butt frequency is a very incomplete picture of the full shaft stiffness profile.   So the original recommendation still stands, any adjustments need to be made by through actual testing by the OP.  Other peoples experiences generally aren't helpful as mechanics can vary quite a bit and the whole concept of too stiff or too soft is entirely subjective.
