Pull Hooking My Driver!

Please HELP!!!

I hit every other club in my bag great, but for some reason, I can't hit the driver straight anymore.

I want to play a small power fade, but when I miss, I pull hook the ball short and left.

Oh, if it helps any, I'm a two plane swinger.

1. Check your grip (probably a weak grip)

2. Check your plane on video. (are you coming over plane)

If your grip is weak then you open up the club face easy but then its hard to release so you go over the top to compensate... just what I learned from Dick Aultman.

3 Check ball position (practice different postions till you get the results your looking for) little foward in the stance and a tad closer helps me hit the fade.

Get some impact tape this could determine why you are pull hooking the ball.. Over the top too much upper body/arms swing..

If you are trying to play a power fade and without seeing your swing (so this is a guess or hypothesis), I am thinking that you are coming slightly over the top on your downswing and when you hit your pull hook the clubface is shut relative to the path. When you hit your good ones your face angle and path, and body will be working more in sync or manipulating enough to hit it straight or how you want.

This could be a timing issue, technique issue, or a sequence problem. In my teaching through the years I have seen many people that play good golf from a slight inside takeway to a slight to more massive over the top move to the ball, it [i]can[/i] be repeatable and [i]can[/i] be powerful. Do I reccomend it? not particularly. There are certain things you can do to remedy that inside to over move (assuming that is what you are doing). The one miss that a fader of the ball hates to see and that is a ball going left.

Without seeing your swing it will be really hard to recommend anything to change. But if that sounds like what you are doing, then a little work on your takeaway and some positions after that, and then that in turn can help your downswing move as well. It is like a chain of events, fix one part to help improve another part...etc. If you get the club in a better position early it can lead to an easier transition downward toward the ball.

A very likely concern is your left wrist. If it's cupped at impact and your swing is reasonably square and on-plane, you'll hit pull hooks.

Try hitting some shots with a credit card between your wrist and glove to feel what flat is.

I have the same problem, but it is only with my driver. I hit my buddy's D1 and BOMBED them. I think it must be a timing issue with me.

I'll get a case of the driver/3 wood snap hooks and I figured out it's that I'm not transfering my weight to my left leg at impact. I'm hanging back on my right side while my hands flip through faster than my body can catch up.
