Closest thing to Vokey SM6 60.10 S-Grind

Hey guys,

I love my 60.10 S-grind but it's gotten a lot of use over the years. I use it all around the green as well as for partial & full shots. It's one of the most reliable clubs in my bag. It's a real difference-marker. If I could find a new one somewhere I'd purchase it in a heartbeat but finding a 5-year old wedge with no wear is all but impossible.

Unfortunately, the SM8 line is probably not going to work. I bought one with the same specs (60.10-S) and it's definitely a totally different weight/feel. The SM8 feels significantly heavier in the head which I think gives it a clumsy feeling. I prefer the lighter feeling head of the SM6.

With the SM8, I lost confidence that I could slide the club under the ball on little lob shots. It felt like I'd have to completely re-learn the short game. I'm just going to throw that idea away.

(1) Does anyone know if I can do some custom order thing with Vokey to get a more direct replacement?

(2) What alternatives would you guys suggest? I have never played Callaway or TaylorMade wedges and it's been a long time since I had a Cleveland or Mizuno in the bag.

Many thanks!

Finding a second hand SM6 would be one option if there are any in good condition.

If not give the SM8 60 12 D grind a try with a KBS Tour shaft and a heavier grip. The KBS tour has a high balance point so it might make the overall feel lighter

And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, go to a store and try some

out! There are excellent options from all brands nowadays

Swing weight your SM6 and order an sm8 with the same shaft, grip, and swing weight as your sm6.

I've wondered about maybe going with a different grind in the SM8 to "compensate" but if anything, the 10o S-grind in the SM8 feels heavier & bouncier so I'd probably be looking for less. Kind of depressed at the idea of randomly trying different SM8's when I've already got one I don't like, you know? a

I'll have demo days coming up for Cleveland & TaylorMade over the next 2-3 months. That might be the more ideal situation given I'll probably replace all 3 wedges anyway.

Oh, that was definitely a thought. Unfortunately, finding a 60.10 S-grind SM6 or SM7 in condition worth buying has been harder than I imagined.

I certainly thought there'd be a bunch of new old stock SM7's sitting around on Ebay.

I'm definitely going to check the swing weight on the SM6 and SM8 to see what they are. I was under the impression that they were supposed to be the same from the factory.

Both S200 shafts. One has a cord grip, the other the stock Tour 360.

Both S200 shafts. One has a cord grip, the other the stock Tour 360.

The cord grip is a little heavier than the Tour 360. So that could effect head feel. The actual head weights SHOULD be similar on each model, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were different weights. They are mass produced so there will be a variance in the heads. They are ground by humans, so they are all going to be a little different.
