TC201 vs MC-501

I'm looking for some feedback on a comparison of these two irons from anyone who may have played or tested them. I was able to do a fit out on some grass and I didn't see much of a difference between them, from a numbers perspective. I'm not sure if I was just swinging well or if they really are both just super close in performance?  When looking at my data and having both 6i at 30* loft, they flew the same distance, mishits were similar.

Anyone that may have hit both over the course of some time have any feedback?

I did a fitting back in March and went in thinking i would walk out with the TC-201s. I was surprised by the results and ended up with a set 4-p of 501s. On good strikes the results were similar but i managed to keep ball speed up with the 501s on mishits. My miss is usually a few grooves low and it made sense given the weight distribution of the club. But i was really thrown off that the speed held up on the toe/heel misses. I also thought i would have only gone 5-p but ended up grabbing a 4 iron as it performed better than my 716 TMB. It also helped that the 501s were cheaper than the 201s. It took 8 weeks for the KBS Ctaper 130s to arrive for them so i just got them the other week and have only gotten a couple rounds in so far but i could be happier. Definitely had some second thoughts during those 8 weeks but after the first round i knew i made the right decision. Distance is similar to the 716 Ap2s they replaced but much tighter dispersion and better ball flight.

I too was thinking about this very thing. From what I've heard, the 501s are fairly "forgiving" or should I say "surprising" to those thinking they're going to be very tough to hit. I'm torn between these two if I decide to go Miura, which I am closer to each time I see them.

I’ve been playing the 501s for a while and agree with both posters that they are pretty forgiving. Absolutely love them. Night and day vs. traditional blades. As far as 201 vs 501 for me it came down to aesthetics, I just prefer a thinner top line. Like you, my numbers with both were pretty consistent.

Anyone else have any feedback? I had the MC501 before and loved them. Stupidly sold them because I got itch for something new. Now want to go back to Miura and was thinking TC201 just because it’s new and something different. Been told they are similar but maybe more forgiving. But then read things like above and make me second guess doing that?

I have had both irons sets.

Both are relatively forgiving but personally, I found the chunkier look of the 201 more confidence inspiring on those cold mornings or bad swing days.

The top line of the 501 is cleaner and when you are striking the ball well, you really do feel like a baller.

If I did go back to the 501, I might consider mmt or some other graphite steel to offset the sting on Mishits.

both sets are gorgeous and yes, I regret selling the 501 just to stare at.
