I guess not by popular demand, I am out of the norm but I play the "COBRA 454 COMP" I guess that is why there is so many manufactures we do not all have the same swings and we all like different clubs.

 

I have been trying for the last few years to get over the 300 yeard mark and I have finaly reached it with this club and can keep it most of the time in the fairway. Don't get me wong it is not 300 yards all the time when I hit it right it gets there, prior to this club it has been 280 if I hit it right so Ihave picked up a lot of yardage with this club. I am sitting on a little high elevation here in South Africa I am anxious to get it back in Houston to see if i still get the 300 yards there.

At the moment it's an Ashton MS-5 HW with a stiff Accuflex Evolution tipped 1/2 inch. It bumped the 983k w/ Prolaunch 75s out of the bag in the fall. I have a better idea which one will be the clear cut winner in the spring.

Taylormade R5 TP 9.5 with Diamana 83X an Absolute CANNON, it has that pga tour trajectory everybody seeks, ball slowly rises and flattens out. A close 2nd is 905T with Grafalloy Blue, a very good driver/shaft combo. :drinks: :dntknw:

TM 510 mid with a Fuji 652 frequently trades spots with a KZG Gemini Fuji 27.3. Depends on whether I can afford to go left on the course I play which one goes as I can hit the Gemini consistantly longer but every now and then it wants to dive left.

My initial vote was for the Cleveland Launcher 460 Comp. However, I may have to change my vote to Titleist. Especially once the 905R is out in stores.

OK, So most people on here are equipment Ho's. From everyones signature, it's clear that we all play a full selection of varying manufactures and models.

 

I've listed most of the main manufactures in the survey, but can only list 10...... sorry.

 

Please post your Driver spec loft shaft etc when you have voted. With the amount of members on the site, this should be an interesting survey for the masses. It would be great to cover this in one thread.

 

JHR, you may struggle to pick one with your current selection...... :wave:

 

I'll start us off - TM R7 9.5* with Aldila NV 65S :cheesy:

Update...... the R7 is now on fleabay, picked up a New Ignite 9.5' 460 for a silly price :)

Will try it for a few rounds before a shaft upgrade will take place.....

Any suggestions for this combo. This is a retail head therefore 350" shafts only.

My driver is Ping G2 10.5 degree with an Aldila NV-65-R - reg shaft

 

It is a fabulous driver. Very straight and forgiving.

TM 540 XD/TP, 10.5/ZCom MW54 stiff, tipped 1/4", D2 at 44.5"......I've been away and back to this driver three different times....It is quite simply the easiest driver for me to hit, not to mention the best sounding and feeling I've had as well....I've hit virtually every TM tour stick with the exception of the Holy Grail.....I'm experimenting with a r7 tp as a backup but the 540 XD/TP is money...No matter how many I try I just can't get along with the ginormous, 460 cc heads....

TM R510TP w/757 Speeder stiff. Been in the bag for two years and is still #1 with me. Had a 983E prior and was not in the same league as the TM. Long & straight -- what more can you ask. Haven't even tried the R7's and have no desire to do so.

Still using the original Launcher 460.

 

I wanted to see how it would stack up against the new 460, so I tested them out together on a LM (only remember distance, i forgot to remember spin :birthday: ) Tried to get the smae type of shaft, but they didn't have it in Aldila 75, so I went and tried 65.

 

My L460 (with Aldila NV 75 stiff): average of about 280 carry

New L460 (with Aldila NV 65 stiff): average of about 283 carry, 13.7* launch angle (I think this went farther cause I hit my driver first, so I was a little warmed up)

 

This small margin of distance wasn't enough to make me buy. But, next time I go to get a driver, I'll make sure I get fit for the right shaft/head combo. My driver now I bought a a whim, and bought the shaft without getting on a LM. Lucky for me, this combo works really well.

TaylorMade R5 type N with the Fujikura Speeder 757 stiff. I bought the Callaway 454 with the Aldila NV-65s and the Ping G5 with the stock Ping shaft in stiff before I settled with the R5 with the Speeder. I had the best numbers with the Callaway 454 with the Aldila NV-65s and the Titleist 905T with the Titleist Speeder but it was a different story once I put in some time at the driving range.
