Golf grips

Recommended Posts

You could pick whatever grip suits your taste and use a reminder strip under the tape when they are installed.  Golf Works sells them.  They're quite a bit cheaper than the current crop of alignment grips from the major providers.

My first experience with ribbed grips were with a set of Hogan Apex Plus that I, to quote BIG STU, front line gamed a few years ago.  The rib is on the underside of the grip and it fits in bend in your fingers' second knuckle when you grip the club properly.  They keep your left hand aligned with a neutral grip thus assuring that the right hand is equally neutral with an interlocking grip.  If you need to strengthen your grip you can adjust the rib to accomplish that in a consistent way by offsetting.

I'm currently using Lamkin Sonar Tour Calibrate grips on my modern woods which are a commercial version of a reminder grip, but they are pricey as they're a buck and a half more than the non reminder version.  Hence my suggestion that you buy ribs and install them yourself under your favourite grip and save a buck or two.

In my classic club stash I typically use basic perforated wrap grips, so if I wanted a reminder I would pull the grips and install ribs underneath.

I just bought a set of these, need to regrip my main baggers with them, might add that rib to them to help with grip reminder.

I never used ribbed grips because I hold the club in my fingers mostly and manulipate the club in my fingers and hands too. Back in the day if one wanted ribbed grips a club maker would cut a coathanger wire and use it---- Then the all mighty USGA for some reason decided it was illegal and banned them because of the diameter. The ones like Golfworks sells are not as big of a diameter and according to the USGA are "conforming"
