HZRDUS Red & Green Smoke Small Batch

Hi all,

 

I’ve been playing a Srixon z785 driver for the past three to four years with a Hzrdus Red 6.0 / 3.2° / 62g / Mid Spin shaft in it. 
 

I’ve just bought a Cally Epic Max LS and have two shafts to try in it. 
 

1. An Evenflow Blue in 6.0

 

2. A HZRDUS Green Smoke Small Batch in 6.0. 
 

Now, the HZRDUS Green is labelled 6.0 / 3.2° / 60g / Low Spin. 

 

Are the Hzrdus Green and Red essentially similar enough shafts that I can just test the Green against the Evenflow and see what the outcome is and then if I preferred the Hzrdus Green to the Evenflow but wanted slightly more spin (and maybe a bit higher launch?) that’s where it might be worth then changing the tip on the Hzrdus red and trying it in the Cally?

The “standard” HZRDUS is the Black, which is stiff everywhere, but generally not boardy feeling, unless you choose very poorly.

 

The Red is very similar to the Black except for the tip, where the Red is significantly more flexible. It feels like the black but has launch characteristics that are better geared for moderate swing speeds.

 

The EF Blue is similar to the Black only in that it says Project X on it. Its flex characteristics are grossly different. It’s an active mid-flex geared for distance and lively feel. Makes a very good fairway shaft for moderate SS.

 

The Green is even stiffer than the Black, which to me makes little sense, since the Black is already very stiff. It does use the high-end Hexcel material, which may be an advantage for some. If you feel that your Red is just way too wimpy for you, you may appreciate it, otherwise…

 

Note that the label on your Green doesn’t say Mid Spin, nor should it 😉

I’ve really liked the Red in my z785 so it sounds from what you’ve said that it’s probably worth getting a Cally tip onto it and see what the result is vs the Green. 
 

My driver SS is around 102-105mph so my instinctive concern is the green may not be for me, though I prefer a stout-feeling driver shaft so it might be perfect. 
 

Interesting what you say re the Evenflow Blue as a fairway shaft. I have a GBB Epic three wood that came with an Accra that’s fine enough, but it would be interesting to try the Evenflow in it if I’m not gonna use it for the driver (which all feedback seems to suggest it’s unlikely to be for me).
