ProV1x vs Z-Star Diamond

FearTheDeer

Recommended Posts

I know that the Z-Star Diamond thread is fairly extensive, but looking to see if anyone has any direct comparisons. I am a decently low spin player but am also fairly high launch so these balls have my attention. However, the weather is trash in Wisconsin right now so outdoor comparisons may need to wait a little bit...

Curious if anyone has put these 2 to the test. Thoughts/Results?

I've played both and the Diamond is softer feeling, is slightly lower spinning off the driver, slightly higher spin off the mid & long irons and is better in the wind.  My approaches into greens were basically 1 hop and stop with the Diamond with all my irons and wedges.

Did you find the spin around the greens on pitches and chips were higher with Diamond or same?

Felt like for me the Diamond had a little more spin and control around the greens.

I have used both on the course but not on the launch monitor.

Z Star Diamond is softer than PV1x. The feel is in between Z Star and Z Star XV, but would be slightly closer to Z Star.

Distance wise I personally got more out of PV1x especially with driver and fwy.

PV1x played better in the wind. More penetrating for me personally and stayed in line to when I aimed.

Iron and wedge shots Diamond performed slightly better as it stopped very close to where it landed. PV1x seemed to have a bit more roll after landing.

Price Diamond wins.

Durability a tie. Both were good.

are you comparing the diamond to the current 21 X? if so this just shows how subjective feel and performance is...I found Diamond to be better in the wind and longer of the driver. irons and wedge shots I spun the Prov1X more...I can agree both durability is good.

Resurrecting this thread.... I am super interested in the comparison of these balls in both of the 2023 models.  Let me know if anyone has had their hands on the 23' diamond and has some insight.  going to try them when released on feb 15th for sure.

The only thing I can't understand is why they are not making the Diamond in the Yellow. It makes ni sense when all tye other srixon balls are in yellow.

I have the 23 Diamonds and played them on the simulator yesterday for the first time.  Waiting on the 23 Prov1X to arrive so I can compare.  New diamonds feel amazing.  I don't have any of the old ones left from last year, so I can't compare directly.  If I had to guess, it seems to feel of a more powerful thump off the driver and slightly higher launch. Spin with all the long clubs seemed similar to what I remember.  Once again, I really liked it.  It will be interesting to see what the masses think of it.  I'm going to keep comparing all of the new balls on the simulator until I can get outside, which is still a month away. Sad.

Trackman or the one that's in the ceiling are the ones I have most access to. I can't remember the actual name of the other.  It's installed at our club.  Cameras in the ceiling and dual sensors by the screen. E6 software on that one

I was going to say that, but wasn't sure if that was the name.  The only thing about that one, is they didn't pay for all the of the club data.

I can't wait to try the new ProV1X.  My swing has changed a lot in the last year with lessons and practice and I don't need quite as low spin with the driver and could stand to have a little more with the mid irons.  But, the Diamond was really good.  Better feeling than I remember and I didn't think it felt bad before.

As iron lofts get stronger, looking for extra spin in the irons as well

I'm going to be following this thread. Super intersted in the Diamond last this year. I played it for a few rounds last year and really liked it. Although, I did have the seam split issue that others saw so hopefully the durability will be better this year.

I did the ballnamic thing and it told me that this and prov1x were the top choices. One thing I found interesting is that the full wedge spin was the highest for the diamond. But the prov1x had higher greenside spin rating. Does anyone know if srixon does buy 3 get 1. I am down to my last few of the left dash I bought in the 4 for 3 and seems it wasn't the right ball for me (even though I have liked it a lot).

They do a deal on Father's Day usually that is buy 2 get 1 free I believe

My memory is that last year the diamonds were included briefly in the deal and then dropped (I assume because of supply issues). I got diamonds during that deal (or some other one), and haven’t seen them as part of a deal since like the other z stars. Hoping they go on sale again because I’m thinking they are best option with my new iron set up.

I just got 3dz of 2023 diamond delivered today! Anyone know if there are any difference much in the two versions?

I find the 2023 to spin more with full shot wedges. Everything else felt and performed the same as the 21 Diamond.
