Looking for info on swapping 400 gram putter heads

I recently bought a Tommy Armour Counterbalance putter. It’s 38” and the head weighs 400 grams. I wanted to try a cheaper venture into the longer, counterbalance mallet world to see if I like it. Well, I love it! My question is now I’d like to upgrade to a premium putter with the same shape and build. The closest one I’ve found is a Scotty. I’ve included pics of both putters and specs. Can I remove my shaft and install the Scotty head? I’ve reshafted irons, but never a putter. Also open to any other ideas or putters that may fit what I’m looking for. I’m not sure if this should be in the putter forum, or the build forum, so I’ll post over there also. Thank you!

You will need to know the inside diameter of the putter shaft on the Tommy Armour first. If you know that info, you'll know if the shaft will fit over the post of the Scotty. Short answer is yes, it can be done.

Thank you! I can’t find any info on the diameter, but I can certainly pull and measure it. I’m trying to find the size of the Scotty post online, but have been unsuccessful.

Why do you want to do this exactly?  What is the goal? 

 

If you have a premium shaft, I totally understand why. Yes, it can be done, but finding just a Scotty head is very uncommon. You will basically be removing a cheap shaft only to remove the cheap shaft in a scotty.

I believe the newer Scotty mallets use a .390 shaft for over the hosel setups. Plumbers neck should still be .355

I like the bend and the way it sets up. But I guess you’re right, a Scotty with the same bend would be fine

Yeah. I mean due to the shaft dynamics and putter head differences, there is a very good chance it won't set up identically. 

 

Do yourself a favor and don't swap the shafts. Instead, you should probably buy the scotry you want and roll it alongside the TA. Pick which one you like best, sell the other. 

 

If you are a true WRXer, but another putter juat for gun.
