I think I’ve experienced the same, mainly because you have to barely flick the stick forwards on the downswing in order to get perfect tempo and sometimes you have to be so careful that you don’t even have enough power to swing

I usually pull the stick all the way back and push it all the way forward. My timing isn't always great but it’s pretty good at this point. Different for different kinds of shots, obviously. 
 

Really skilled players apparently don’t use the shot meter…they just watch the golfer avatar and time from that (!).
 

Little tips that help me get the ball closer to the hole:

 

- For those really long putts with a lot of break I almost always switch to the lob wedge and chip them. I can get them closer that way.

 

- I also use Chip from green side bunkers instead of Splash. Much easier to time a chip IMO. 
 

- I try to put a little bit of shape on every approach shot  so the ball covers more green on the way to the hole. If the green is laid out front left to back right I’ll fade it in there so the last part of the ball’s flight is over the green and not the trouble. I hit draws into greens shaped the other way. 

 

- Punch seems good for getting out of the rough when I miss a fairway but it isn’t good out of green side rough.

I love 2k23, and I use the Legendary Magnet 2. I think that's the best ball in the game haha.

It got easier when I but the bullet and paid for fittings across my irons. Cost about 2500 credits.

I’m always happy when I make it to the Tour Championship, but man what a humbling experience it is. The course is so hard.

Someone has posted a hole by hole recreation of Augusta called April’s Major. Really good. The greens are bedeviling.

Did they fix the first hole where the ball will almost ways roll all the way down the green no matter where you are?
