Lido Update?

Posted in the other thread but just returned last week playing the lido. Few things to point out (sorry if this was mentioned before but hopefully those planning to visit will find helpful).

  1. you have to stay at SV lodging to get a tee time here. no walk-in allowed.
  2. Tee times for SV lodging guest is only allowed on Sunday thru Thursday and limited to 10am to 2pm window. At 10 mins between tee times, you can see not many tee times are available. replay rate doesn't apply here due to limited tee times.
  3. only 175 private members there and Fri/Sat are members only including their pro shop access. Meaning you can't even visit as SV lodging guest on those days (thought this was ridiculous).
  4. you can't visit their pro shop unless you're playing. (same as #3 - thought this was a bit too pretentious)
  5. No alcohol license yet so bring stuff accordingly although caddie is a must so don't plan on 6-packs!
  6. luckily I got to play in low 70's temp with little breeze but if it's 80+ degrees in middle of summer, no chance I'd want to play here. absolutely no tree shade available and not a single bench available on the property.
  7. Very few bathrooms available on the course. Think maybe 1 plus clubhouse?
  8. no range/chipping area/putting green. You must come ready to play. 5-10 mins shuttle ride from SV clubhouse.
  9. was told junior caddie was not allowed at reservation but ended up getting one. he was a high school senior student. Since I didn't care to have one at all, it didn't bother me but if I expected a pro caddie but was given him, that would frustrate me some. He ended up ok but I played my own game most of times.
  10. GHIN has this course included so I was able to log my score but my Garmin watch didn't have it. no yardage book available yet so you're relying on your caddie 100%.
  11. course is still relatively new, meaning course condition isn't grown in yet. on the sides of bunker, we were told if your ball landed there, you get 'free' drop so you aren't hitting out of it or standing on it. This is to protect the turf that's not grown in yet. Thought this was very weird....
  12. Found some areas on the greens very sandy. Likely still trying to grow in. condition didn't reflect SV/MD in my opinion.

Overall, it was a good experience but not sure I'd want to do it again. For what they're asking, $275 + caddie tip, I'd either play SV or Mammoth Dunes plus Sandbox again.

Hope this helps some.

Damn. Didn't know this would be semi-private. I wonder if my club pro can get me on outside the public play times.
