Resource For Better Understanding Launch Monitor Data?

Recommended Posts

I just got a Bushnell Lauch Pro and I'm wondering if there's any sort of resource/website/book that explains the various data points the BLP/GC3 spits out and if there are "ideal" numbers/range of numbers for certain clubs to help with my shot analysis.

I've found a few random things using google but nothing that's super helpful. Was hoping one of you knew of a good resource.

Ideal numbers are different based on ball speed.

Look up the PGA/LPGA average numbers and between them you should be able to find something close to each club you have.

You can also play around with the Flightscope optimizer tool and change spin and launch angle to see how it affects your carry distance.

In for better answers as well, the only common numbers that seem to get quoted is on this old Trackman blog post from at least five or seven years ago.

The attack angles are interesting but nerdy me would really like a complete current set of PGA / LPGA data points including club path.

The Flightscope numbers are from February of 2022.

Can't help you with path or other data points, though.

I’ve gotta say that Foresight has been less than perfect regarding my questions submitted surrounding the data, specifically group data like spray, range, accuracy etc. I understand, academically, what these all mean, but I didn’t find this info when I watched the PEAK videos. Maybe I missed something, but I’ve had a message waiting to be answered by the head tech at foresight about this exact issue for some time.

Following along.

No, don't do this.   Those are simply tour averages, they are not optimal numbers nor are they numbers you should use to judge how good (or bad) anyone's numbers might be.   Lots of tour pros have numbers that are quite different from those averages - both higher and lower (that's what makes them averages).

In fact, the only numbers that can be optimized (where optimal numbers even can exist) are for the driver - since we actually are trying to optimize something - distance.    You don't want to optimize any other club for distance.   The rest of the clubs need to be tuned to balance different individual's needs for carry distance (and distance gaping) against the need to be able to hold greens (distance control).    The balance that might be best for one individual may not be the same as for other individuals.   It's as much personal preference as it is anything else.

Fair enough.
