Fairway Wood Lie Angles

I'm a tall guy, and my irons are 1" over and 2 degrees upright.   The length on fairway woods is a no-brainer, but do I need to set the lie angle as I would my irons?

Ideally you would want to fit the lie angle for every single club.  So yes, especially if you commonly use the fairway off the deck (as opposed to having it as an alternative club to use exclusively off the tee.

 

But you can not use the iron results as a basis to fit the fairways (for both length and lie angle).  They have to be fit independently for both.

 

Unfortunately, unlike irons, most fairways can not always be bent safely- so you can only really use the limited adjustability provided by the hosel adjustments - or potentially using playing length adjustments (which may or may not have other negative implications) - or just only consider heads that have a lie angle that fits your needs.

fwiw, Taylormade and Cobra seem to design more upright fairway wood lie angles than Callaway or Ping. I am not sure about PXG or Mizuno.

Thanks....  As Stuart, a lot of the fairways are coming with the hosel adjustments now that the drivers have.  So that's a start...   I have a driver fitting in a couple of weeks...  We'll see what happens.
