North LA county public recommendations

Going to be in Santa Clarita the weekend of 2/10. Will have time for two rounds, so looking for the best options in the SCV and northern SFV.  
 

I grew up in the SCV and will probably play a round at Vista Valencia, but for my second round, Hansen Dam, El Cariso, Knollwood, Sand Canyon or drive to Rustic Canyon?  Or even up to Soule Park in Ojai?

I would make the drive to Soule and Rustic. Sand Canyon is ok but not like the Robinson ranch days

Rustic and Soule are in a different league. Make the trip out to Ojai or Olivas if you can. If you can't, Sand Canyon and Angeles National are good enough.

Is Angeles National decent again, or has it still continued to decline?

I booked a mid-day Friday on Rustic Canyon and will hop on Vista Valencia on the weekend.  I looked at Angeles National and the mixed online reviews made me very hesitant to drop $180, especially when Rustic Canyon is $34 to walk.

It's been about a year since I played it, but it was awful. Way overpriced for what it was. 

 

For the OP - I've heard good things about Moorepark, which is right down the street from Rustic Canyon. That said, Rustic Canyon will always be the undisputed champ of LA public golf in my mind.

Played Rustic Canyon this afternoon.  75 degrees and sunny.  What a lovely course.   And an absolutely amazing bargain.  Thanks all for the recommendation.

If you gunna be in ojai I’ll throw in ojai valley inn! That my candy land I love that place. The golf is fantastic and the whole place is beautiful

Oak Quarry Interesting. I don't think Trump is worth the money, personally.
