Question for GPS users

Is intelligreen that beneficial?
I thought I'd start a separate thread because I want the opinion of all GPS users no matter what brand. How important is an "intelligreen" like feature? Is this something that gives you that much of an advantage versus something like igolf that only gives front/center/back without such a display.

I'm using a SkyCaddie SG5 right now and for me the most important part of the intelligreen feature is the ability to move the crosshairs around the green and get front and back yardages based on that. The fact that the intelligreen also rotates in response to your approach angle is also useful but not absolutely critical unless you need to approach from an unusual angle. Just my 2c but overall intelligreen is an important feature for me.

Good luck !

On the SC you can move the cursor anywhere, so the intelligreen becomes handy when you're trying to figure on much you need to land it on X spot over X piece of realstate. I find it to be a nice feature.

How many amature golfers can land on X spot consistently? Let alone how many amature's can land with in a five yard x spot consistently? Well I can tell you that more can land with in 5 yards more than on x spot, this is the reason why I went with the iGolf Neo. I don't need intelligreen and 99% of amature's don't need intelligreen so why pay the extra money for it and not use it compared to others.

I would feel very different about SC if it wasn't for the year to year membership.

A great example is the finishing hole at my home course. There's a pond in front of the green that you must carry. On the right side of the green, you may have 100 to the front and 120 to the back, and on the left side you may have 150 and 160 respectively. There could easily be 2 clubs difference from the left side of the green to the right side. Shooting for the center distance could easily leave me short and wet.

Well when you miss the green (or pin but are off the green) , by lets say 30 y, which you'll agree lot of us amateur do. Right, left, short or long, doesn't matter. Let's also say that now there's a bunker 9Or water) between you and the flag, downhill :black eye: . Is it 20y over the bunker to the fringe or is it 30 y? A lot of people (amateur) can hit X spot within five yards from inside 75 y, that's when in comes in handy. I know I can.

I really don't get the big deal a lot of folks make about the yearly subscription with the SC. $40 for your state or $50 for the whole US.

$1 a week!!! I spend more than that a round on tips for the cart girl!

Plus most folks around here play tour balls at $40/50 a DZ (guilty as charged) and very few play balls less than $25 DZ. So for the price of one or two DZ of balls a YEAR...................come on. Not one person on this board can tell me, with a staight face, that they can justify a couple of hundreds bucks for a GPS or laser gadget (any of them) but the $1 buck a week is just too much. Gimmee a break. Use that Pro V1 one for more hole before throwing it in the shag bag and you'll break even in no time.

If something just might save you one stroke, a week, MIGHT. Would you spend a dollar for it? Hell even if it didn't save the stroke and was just convenient and easy to use........

I'm not saying that the SC is the be all and end all, it's not. But if your ONLY reason for NOT buying it is the $1 week..........I just don't get it.

I don't use a cart and most of the people who don't have gotten the smaller size GPS's of every brand because of the size and weight.
