You all are no different than Johnny. You hypocrits! He bashes players because of whatever reason. You're bashing him because of whatever reason. It's the same.

 

Think about it. In Johnny's mind, a swing like Parry's or the play of Leonard is substandard to him, so he makes comments.

 

And now here you are making comments of Johnny because of the substandard comments he makes of other players. It's no different. It's just becomes a train of ongoing bashing.

 

And here I am bashing you. See how it works? I bash you, who bashes Johnny, who bashes touring pros. It's never ending.

 

Johnny is wonderful. He is human. Let humans be humans instead of making them out to be restrictive media professional types. We only live once.

 

Now if you have Raymond Floyd doing the commentating....whole other story.

Also, about Miller's comment about "3 metal". He's just trying to be technically accurate with his wording of things. Just like he is with the technicalities of the swing. He's being consistent.

 

 

More than anything, Johnny is just trying to be cognizant and aware of the world around him. As technological advances occur before us, so does his usage of vernacular. There's nothing wrong with that. We only live once and he's just trying to be accurate with the choice of words he uses.

actually when metalwoods first hit the market and there were players with both metalwoods and wooden woods in their bags the terms 3 metal and five metal were very common for some reason the terms did not stick and very few people use it now.

I'll even confess to using the phrase 'metal 3' myself in the distant past (although NOT '3 metal') when there really was a case for pointing out it was a Taylor Made (since that's what it invariably was back then) wood rather than a persimmon.

 

I stopped doing it when the status quo changed and every single wood in play became metal. Apart from a few notable exceptions, it was sometime in the mid 90s.

 

Now though, it's just plain annoying, and has a ring of just wanting to be different about it in the case of Miller.

 

Whatever, I wish he'd stop doing it, since it's another (albeit little) thing about him that gets on my nerves.

Johnny Miller is terrible.

The day somebody fires his @$$ from NBC will be the day I start enjoying NBC coverage. Johnny Miller, imo, has NO authority over Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods can go out and swing like s*** and beat the hell out of everybody, and Johnny has to say something smart. What has Johnny won, two majors. Whats Tiger? thank you. Johnny needs to shut his mouth, he was never "great." In fact, he overrates himself. For the people who like him, you understand nothing about golf. The players don't like johnny because they know he is full of himself. Give me a break. Whats that Top Ten show on the golf channel with Johnny. He says he can hear shots that are off the toe and high on the face. Thats BULLLLLLLLLLLLLL, you can watch and see stuff like that. Now when he gives himself credit for hearing a fat shot, its like wow, Good Job! You can hear a thud! He really needs to just go on a cruise and accidentally fall overboard and forget how to swim.
