LA Golf Ozik Red Tie 70X - Looking for an equivalent playing shaft but in a mid-60 Gram Range.

I like the LAGP Ozik Red Tie 70X as it has a much stiffer butt than my Ahina 60X.

 

At 78 Grams, the Red Tie is little heavier than I am used to playing in a Driver.

 

What other OEM's make a shaft that plays/feels similar to the Red Tie 70X but in a mid 60gram range??

The original Matrix Ozik Red Tie had a unique profile.  stiff butt, significant loss of stiffness in the mid, but a big bump in stiffness between the mid and the tip.  LA Golf's version of Red Tie was more subtle: less kick than the original, but not as linear as Black Tie.  

 

LA Golf bought the inventory and intellectual property of Matrix when they started, and I believe the Red Tie lineup was the first model line they mass-produced.  AXS was the second, and the AXS Red profile looks very similar to the LA Golf Red Tie.

 

Other shafts that would be on my list to look at:  Aldila Tour Green (AXS Red was based off this profile), Aldila Rogue Silver, LA Golf Olyss, LA Golf DJ, PX Riptide MX.

 

Interestingly, the one shaft I see where the profile seems to mirror that of the original Red Tie is the OG Hzrdus Yellow.

Would a Fuji Atmos Tour Blue play similar?

Atmos Blue doesn't have the mid-shaft bump in stiffness.  So I think it will play a bit softer than LA Golf Red Tie.

 

That being said, it is more linear than the average "blue" profile.  Might be worth a look.

Just going off EI profile alone, the Kiyoshi Black would be the closest IMO.  Very stiff in the tip and handle with a soft mid.  I had the ZF and it's got a med tip and mid with a very stiff handle.  It has a very subtle kick and is mid launch/low spin.

I agree with @phizzy30 about the Oban Kiyoshi Black. 

 

Keep in mind that weight is a big part of the equation here.  Matrix Red Tie tended to be on the heavier side for a given weight class - 70X is 78g uncut, 60X is 70G

 

Kiyoshi Black has the same pattern, if not a bit heavier.  60X is 72g. 70X is 84g.

I play the Tour Green in my 5 wood, and the Rogue Silver in my 3 wood.

They don't balloon, but have a mid penetrating flight.

A left handed adaptor for a LH Callaway Driver 2015 Great Big Bertha. I believe Callaway still uses that same adaptor.

 

The 70X on the heavy side for me, though it's possible that it could work for me in a 3 wood.

 

A 60gram shaft is what I am looking for.

I have a buddy with a Red Tie 60 series. I hit it in his driver s few years ago.

It's a right handed Callaway adapter.

He's not using it, so he would probably sell it.

I'll ask him tomorrow.

Does Graphite Design have a shaft that would play similar?

Graphite Design MAD has a close EI profile to Tour Green.   I've never hit one, so can't confirm via experience though.

 

Graphite Design MJ has a bit of mid-shaft bump in stiffness as well - not as much as Tour Green, but its there.  I gamed Tour Green for years.  And I have an MJ in my garage.  I can confirm they feel very similar.
