Tour Edge E722 or Cobra LTDx

Recommended Posts

I currently find myself without a driver in the bag. I was gaming a Cleveland Launcher XL 10.5. It was ok, but I am looking for a little more pop and a better sound. I have it narrowed down to a TEE E722 9.5* w/Ventus Red 6-S or a Cobra LTDx 10.5. I done my research and watched all the review videos I can find. Thought I would reach out and see what the folks here have to say. Particularly interested in any thoughts from those who have played/hit both. FYI I have an average ss of 95 and natural shot shape is a slight fade, but can crank a left pull occasionally.

  • Shane Cavitt changed the title to Tour Edge E722 or Cobra LTDx

I had the Cobra Radspeed, hit the LTDx and currently gaming C722.  Not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but here are my thoughts.  Very different looks at address.  TEE looks are far from traditional and my put some people off.  I felt the LDTx was harder or firmer off the face.  It is hard to beat Cobra distance when perfectly struck, but not as forgiving as the TEE.  I have no regrets going with the C722, but would not have any hesitation going back to Cobra.  Can't go wrong with either.  Just comes down to what you want.

I haven't hit the TEE but I bought an LTDx on a whim and it quickly kicked my Sim2 out of the bag.

Luckily the Atmost Blue seems to be a perfect fit for me. I had never hit that shaft before so I wasn't sure. My Sim2 had a Ventus Blue Velo fwiw, so the specs were in the same ballpark.

I game the LTDX driver and tried the C722.  Distance is much better with the LTDX and I consistently find the fairway with it.  It's sneaky forgiving in my opinion.  The C722 was a fairway finder but the distance was lacking.  I didn't like the looks of the C722 either but that's subjective.  The LTDX is a great driver.  I have a set of the C722 irons so I am pro TEE.

I was ready to pull the trigger on the E722 until I read the last few replies. Now I am in the same place. Seems like it is 50-50. Leaning toward the E722. In true WRX fashion I should probably just get both!

Go with which looks best to you at address and which fits your budget.  Can't go wrong with either.  Getting the right shaft will have a bigger impact.  Good luck

You just have to keep in mind the design intent of the club.  There's no doubt that the TEE clubs aren't as long as some of their competition, but what they lack in distance, they seem to make up for in forgiveness.  So you'll need to decide which fits your game and gaps better.

I agree with others, the C722 is hideous, I could never play that club.  Such a weird design.  But the E722 is beautiful and I just ordered one over the weekend, should be here Friday.

For what it's worth, I believe the Cobra costs 200, but the 722s are 150 brand new right now, and you can find demos\used from certain sites for $120.

The TEE are commonly equipped with Ventus shafts, which combined with the cheaper price, (and MGS results if you value those) made it an easy choice for me.

Best of luck!

Where are you seeing the E722 driver for $150? I see them for $199 at TE's site and $189 on PGA SS.

I have been a Cobra driver loyalist for many years (L4V, ZL encore, FlyZ, F-8. Speedzone Extreme) and still have 3 in the garage. But recently after picking up a used E722 at a local golf shop on a whim I can confidently say this will be in the bag for a while. Once I got it dialed in it is a fairway finder for me. Don't let the cheaper price fool you. Quality club.

Shaft is the key.  TEE is very under rated.  I love Cobra, but the 722 is more forgiving and a better feel.  The looks of the head seems to be more of a love or hate thing.

Ended up going with the E722 10.5 with Ventus Blue 6S. Was able to grab a Demo at my local PGASS for $150. So it fit my budget better than other options.  Limited use so far, but it feels more solid than my old Launcher XL and the sound is definitely better to my ears. Nothing but straight so far. Literally have not hit a bad shot with it nor have I missed a fairway.

Glad I pulled the trigger. Was hesitant about TEE at first, but I wouldn’t sleep on them vs the bigger OEMs. They make some quality clubs.

Since I first commented on thas thread, I ended up getting an E722 9.5 with Ventus Red 6-S at my local PGA SS for $189. I'm loving mine as well! Hope you enjoy yours.

I was about ready to go with the new one at $189, but found the Demo and couldn’t pass on the deal.

I wanted the 9.5, but since the 10.5 was available with the Ventus Blue, which is the shaft I wanted, I went with it. I figured I can always turn it down if needed.

Same here. Wanted the Ventus Red shaft and figured I can turn it up. Only been to the range with it once, but it is way nicer than my previous Callaway Edge driver.

  • 7 months later...

I went to the TEE C722 about 6 months ago, there's nothing I don't like about this driver.

I really like the ability to work the ball,left-right,up-down.

The kicker is the predictable ball control, even when I "let it rip",had the cobra

Rad XB,just got some" where did that come from" ball flights ,way to often, not so with the TEE.

      I'm a 3,but was better before I hit 65😑
