Baggage before Check-In

Our trip is about 2 weeks away to St Andrews.   We should be arriving to town by shuttle around 1:00 but can't check-in to our rental house until 4:00.  Anybody else run into this, and what are some options for our baggage or things to do as far as sitting around with them until we can get in.   Thanks.

We have contacted the owners in the past and just asked if we could drop our bags off. We have had very accommodating hosts and they have always said no problem.

Don't know why you wouldn't ask the owners, maybe you are posting because they said "no", but otherwise that's a pretty simple thing to check.

 

If you can't leave them at your rental ahead of time, grab a cab or two, take a little trip around the area with the gear in the boot, maybe grab fish and chips in Anstruther, see some of the coast, visit shops in Crail - shouldn't be too hard to make the most of it and fill some time pretty easily, and yes, it won't be free, but it will have value exceeding cab fare.

Contact the hotel concierges around The Old Course, and ask if you can pay to leave your bags there a few hours.

For my St Andrews property; check in is 1600 and checkout 1000. I use a letting agency and they make more money by allowing early check in and late check out, shocked this is not an option for you. 

 

You are definitely not staying in my place as I have someone there right now for 4 weeks straight! lucky guy.

 

I am thinking that maybe at the bus station they have lockers? most railway stations and airports do.

 

Go for a long leisurely lunch at the Rusacks and get them to hold your luggage whilst you eat.

Locker room at Links Trust Clubhouse - I would politely ask and offer to pay / or just walk in the lower door entrance and put your bags in there for a few hours. Walk round to the jigger - then try to retrieve your bags after a few scoops! Where there’s a will there’s a way!!

Joking aside if you contact the Links Trust I am pretty sure they will have a secure bag store - for a fee and will try to accommodate you.
