Pulling putts and more!

Recommended Posts

Face on, watch what your right hand does in transition...that's a putting flip

Down the line, handle goes left through impact.

Path is left and you shut the face with that right hand transition move.

Were you putting to the hole in the down the line video or to a blank spot?

Is your stroke dominated by your right hand?

2 big things stand out right away:

1)  Fix your posture.  You are opening your lead hip at impact.  I'm guessing mostly due to your posture being leaned over so much, that it puts way too much pressure on the toes / ball of your feet.  Move your feet underneath you more and get yourself balanced between the balls and heel of your feet.  No lower body in putting, so you want to be very stable that allows the upper body to move without moving any lower body.  Don't be afraid to get closer to ball too, to remain good balance and have the eyes just inside the ball.

2) Tempo - you seem to have the same speed if not more on the way back, than you do on the way through.  Cure - shorten your follow through to just outside the lead foot on all putt distances.  This will force you to be quicker on the way through.  PGA players are all right about 2:1 ratio.  Meaning the follow through is twice as fast a the backswing.

Different grips, stroke mechanics, etc.  are not as important as getting your posture and intent fixed at the moment.  You'll putting will improve just from getting your lower body to stop opening.

Your lead shoulder goes up and around way too soon and way too much. That pulls the handle left.

Your stroke is twice as long after impact as it is before. You need a touch more backswing, a bit slower rhythm, and A LOT LESS stroke after contact.

Putt 7 footers and work on stopping the putter immediately after impact WHILE having enough speed so the ball barely rolls over the front edge. Think "soft into the back of the ball".

And work on more left hand control of the stroke.

I think you’re too stiff in an attempt to keep the upper unit stable and just “rock the shoulders.”

looks like you don’t let the putter head swing back so when it’s time to hit the ball you have to force it.

let your right wrist bend a little going back and get the putter head moving/feel it swinging.

My last lesson actually covered this, my shoulders tend to open more rather than tilt, however i got taught to feel like my follow through was longer in an attempt to make my stroke more symmetrical

Don't chase stroke symmetry. Put your energy into the ball, long to short is better. It will also help with your left shoulder opening. Use an alignment stick through your belt loops for pelvic stability.

Thank you my man, makes total sense, will get to it today

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
