TP5x vs Pro V1x

Just curious what others thoughts were on these two. Current versions. Have generally always played the V1x. Played the TP5x today. Weirdly I had always thought the TP was the firmer ball with less green side spin but the TP5x almost felt softer to me, especially off of the putter. Maybe because it’s a 5 piece and the outermost layer is significantly softer? V1x feels more explosive off of the face, driver specifically, but distance seemed to be very similar. I feel the V1x apexed a bit higher. But around the greens surprisingly I felt TP5x performed better.

Weirdly as well I really found myself liking the Pix, which is what I played. Thought it was cool to see the spin on chips and pitches and when rolling putts.

I tested TP5, TP5x and ProV1 & ProV1x, and Dash -ProV1x. Both TM balls felt different from ProV1 & ProV1x off 620 MB heads. In the end, ProV1x is used most of the time, followed by DASH & AVX which are weather dependent.

Ball performance depends on what part of the club heads hits the ball. The other day, my buddy gave me his TruFeel and said let's see it spin. He has trouble spinning the ball, so I hit it into a 150yd Par 3, hit, bounced twice, and stopped just past the pin. All people need to do is learn how to hit the ball, controlling spin will no longer be a problem.

I never look at the spin factor of a ball, mostly because I hit down on the ball, creating as much spin as I need. What I care about is how a ball behaves on Wedge shots into and around fast, undulated greens.

Will the ball hit, check and dribble a few feet, and can I throw the ball at the pin, hit, check n stop. ProV1x & Dash mind their manners. For that matter, so does AVX. Both TM balls do as well, but consistency and knowing how a ball behaves is why I won't change. Scoring is knowing and trusting what my equipment will do under various conditions.

The new ProV1x launches really high for me. TP5x launches lower and spins less. TP5x also feels softer. I'd say for green side spin is a wash. I prefer the TP5x over the ProV1x in every way minus feel. Left dash, different story. I love that ball.

Yeah exactly. Actually prefer the firmer feel of the V1x. Left Das for me didn’t spin enough around the greens. Definitely a technique thing I’m working on but the ball can hurt or help.
