Need tips to convert a 33" 2023 Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter to 40" length

I love the putter and would like to improve it with a longer shaft 40" from 33" using Superstroke 3.0-17 grip. I believe that I have to adjust the loft and lie. I have 35g and 40g weight kits, but I am sure I must go a bit lighter to accommodate the weight of the shaft, etc. Hope to find out from WRXers are doing it.

I used a golfworks iron shaft extension and my club head was 385.  I brought it to a golf shop to adjust loft and lie though since i didn't have one at home.  I know some people attach coins to the putter until they feel the right weight and add leadtape or since you have the weight kits use that.

It only hurts once, except golf it hurts a lifetime

That's a lot of extension ... Probably going to need a reshaft.

Not necessarily going to need a lie change. Go try a 40" putter and see what feels right.

Shouldn't need a loft adjustment.

Lead tape is best for playing with weight ... Once you find the right weight, if you don't like the look of the tape, you can match it with your weights. The bigger grip will change the feel.

It appears that the shaft is very light at 115g. I like playing a bit heavy like my bag with X100/S400s.

Get an lagp 135. If you play that putter at 40 inches without a super stiff shaft I guarantee the shaft will feel super flexible.

Edit: or even the lagp 180.

Now it's more likely I would go for 38-39” instead of 40.

Most putter shafts come in 38" ... if you put in uncut on your Newport it's going to be close to 40". You can try it without a grip to get a feel for what you like. I don't think it will feel too whippy. You could go with a KBS CT Tour if want something with a little more stability to it.

Get a UST all in retro. Cut the current shaft where you get the length you need and epoxy the UST in. Then butt cut or not and grip.

The website said it's coming soon in 2023. Have you tried it yourself?

All in shaft arrive a few days ago. I had a WTF moment and cut my Scotty Steel shaft (Phantom 7) with a hack saw 7 inches from the head to leave more steel. I didn’t use a pipe cutter because the pressure closing the blade and rotating would compress the shaft diameter. Made sure it was a nice flat cut, used a metal file, epoxied the retro All in shaft in. Butt cut to 35 and put on the Scotty Jumbo Matador. Played 9 holes the next day. Maybe shaft, maybe confidence, rolled in a few 10-15 footers, dinged one of the pin from 40 feet for a tap in. No three putts. I didn’t weigh or anything, because I don’t care other than how it felt (great). Looks damn good too.
