sunday fly out in evening  whirlwind devil claw. Near airport 

 

works out exactly 800/per man which is about were we want to be. 
 

staying in old town Scottsdale most likely. 
 

would you drop eagle mountain against anything else. Phoenician or cholla etc

Eagle Mt is a decent, albeit funky layout, but it's light years better than the Phoenician. I could never recommend the Phoenician to anyone, one of the most overrated and overpriced courses in the valley, pretty much a tourist trap. 

 

I'd play We-Ko-Pa, either of the courses over Eagle Mt 9/10 times, We-Ko-Pa is special, especially the Saguaro Course.

I would play Cholla over Eagle Mountain 10/10 times.  IMO they really aren't close.  Eagle Mountain isn't bad by any means.  It's pretty solid. Cholla just outclasses it in everyway because it's one of the best courses in the valley.  For whatever it's worth, Saguaro and Cholla are pretty different.  They were different designers so they play and feel different.  The only thing which remains the same are the views throughout the round... which are similar but better than Eagle Mountain.  

 

I personally like The Phoenician more than Eagle Mountain but it's not by much.  The front at The Phoenician is pretty 'meh' (it's a fun layout but it works through housing).  The back 9, however, provides all of the views.  There aren't many holes prettier in the valley than the stretch from the 12 green through the 16th hole as you switch back down Camelback mountain.  That course is always worth playing in my book just because how much I enjoy that back 9.

We ko pa is closed for a college event. 
 

so we went with

thursday - whirlwind

friday- sun canyon

sat - whirlwind

sun - eagle moutain

 

is Verrado worth a look. , we will have a mini bus so getting around is fine

I think either course at Verrado or Sterling Grove would be better than Eagle Mountain.

If you mean Sunridge Canyon that’s a good choice.

I would drop your Saturday round at Whirlwind, take another 20 min and drive to Southern Dunes, host many state and USGA qualifiers, always in great shape. 

 

Skip Verrado and go to Sterling Grove, heard once the housing development is complete it will go fully private, great track and worth the drive.

Thanks. We actually changed thing around.  Doing eagle mountain , then both Troon courses.  Need a Sunday course.  Was thinking whirlwind or longbow just in terms of proximity to airport etc.
