Japanese forged wedges durability?

I hear everywhere that wedges should be changed every 2 to 3 years and X amount of rounds played

is that only true for cheap wedges or also really expensive ones? like miura, epon, kyoei? Cause I am currently looking to buy some kyoei KK 2023 wedges which are CNC milled, they are pretty expensive compared to some vokeys or mizuno but if they won't last for more than 2-3 years, I might just go back to vokey or try mizuno

If you own a pair of miura or any japanese expensive wedges, how long have you had them? how many time did you replace them?

Not sure who told you to replace them every 2 years but it all depends on how much you play & practice.  Cleaning the wedges with a brush and a towel after a bunker shot or a solid divot helps.  I’ve bagged Japanese TaylorMade, PRGR, Honma, Yamaha, Yonex and Daiwa irons.  Never played with JDM wedges though.  Can’t say they would play or feel any better than my Vokeys.

 

That said, there is the forged wedge with milled face set below.  It’s less than $100 for 3 and I may entertain custom grinding a set in the near future.  Looks a lot like Kyoei or maybe even Geotech.  Either way, it’s forged 1020 steel, milled face and from Japan.  Can’t beat that.

I would say that the longevity will obviously depend on the amount of play you do, sandy greens, and what material made of, since most JDM are forged 1025 they will be softer metal and would wear faster too. So I don’t think just cause you are paying more means necessarily it will last longer, what you are paying for is the craftsmanship, name and heritage etc…because at the end of the day it is a wedge and even if it is most expensive and it doesn’t fit your game it is no good and just cuz it is more expensive doesn’t mean it will go in the hole easier

they dont wear out  fast at all  unless u hit billions of balls from the range on concrete  base.
play in jpn is form the quivleant  of clouds rather than  grass ,they never see sand , concrete,  ashfelt , soil, bare lies,
have no fear, kyoei esp, are firmer ,  endo, EPON rather   , not so , they are  really soft   wud nt suggest them  in s***  conds ,   or the RAW  will get a bit  worn faster  than the platd and if u get SQP, well then. they  will last longer  than you .
