Taylormade 300's 3-pw...WOW

Golf Galaxy in Downers Grove, IL
Was at the local Golf Galaxy in Downer's Grove. IL and found a beatufil set of Taylormade 300 irons. They had NOWRNTY stamped on the hosel. Set was in pristine condition and were tagged at $299.00

They looked alot like the irons Freddy is still playing. Possibly Lehman Box Toes? I tried taking a picture for here on my cell phone, but it didn't turn out very good.

Just thought I would drop this message in case anyone is local and wanted to check them out.

I traded my 300's in on a set of Ping Blades and it just so happens that the golf shop that I traded them at is going out of business. I went in there yesterday and they had them for $200. They have the Rifle 6.5's in them and are 1/2 over standard. Should I buy them back for that price? I mean, I have a set of Hogan Apex's that I was hoping to reshaft in the near future so I really don't need another set of blades. (Did I just say that?!) Simp

I have to appoligize for having my head stuck in the sand, but I keep reading on the forum about box toe and those that are not. Can some one show me or tell me the difference? If I seen a used set in a store or on the net how would I know if it was or not. Seems like everyone wants the box toe. They also call them blades but they look like cavity back to me. I guess I am a little ignorant to the subject and have not kept up with the equipment industry in a while.

thanks

It is real hard to pick them out without a lot of time looking at the differences. I can tell you that the only big differences is the toe area and the grooves that are high towards the toe. Looks as if the very outside of the toe (opposite of the heel) is sawed off. There are other differences that TM had to do to add the weight back to the head. The cavity is slightly thicker and the topline is a hair thicker. Here is a pick of my Taylor Made 300 forged lehman grind and the 300 forged retail...

Anytime! I have to say this...

If you are an equipment junkie and love thin toplines and minimal offset with a forged cavity back, this is the cats meow. Unbelievable head. Soft as hell and the club sets up like nothing I have seen.

Problem is cost. Depending on the buzzz at the time the cost can very from 900 to 1200, and mint sets as high as 1700 in chrome. Add 200.00 more for satin.

wow!!! So the $300 everyone is talking about is not close. I figured as much Hype that you hear on here about them i I figured they came with a pretty good price tag. For a high handicaper like myself I would probably be smart to keep the money in my pocket. I wold love to hit them someday just to see, but it might be a good think if I don't!!!!

thanks again

is there a big difference between the lehman or box toe ones vs the retail. you see retail going for $300 or so. with the way everyone talks about them, i've considered picking up a set, but if the retail aren't as good then no point in wasting the money.

Nothing wrong with the retail ones. NOTHING!!! One of the best in my opinions. Retail Taylor Made 300 forged are all time classic cb forged. Look at how many PGA tour players still have them in tier bags today. Great heads for a player cavity back design.

Is the area ground off the 'toe-top', or the 'toe-bottom' ??

Average resale value is $250. If they're in good shape then you could buy them and resell.
