Traverse City Golf Trip

We're headed to Michigan in August for a golf trip going to base ourselves out of TC. We're definitely doing the drive the Arcadia. Toying with Forest Dunes... other courses? We want to play great courses with, ideally, excellent conditions and a fun layout. Curious if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

Bay Harbor and Belvedere are both roughly an hour away from TC. Different types of courses, Bay Harbor is in pristine condition and has some great views of Lake Michigan, but pricy. Belvedere is an old-school course with a great layout and some insane green complexes. I enjoyed both for different reasons

Any recommendations on where to stay in Traverse City?  We are doing this trip in August.

We have stayed at the Delamar, which recently underwent a renovation. It's a short walk to downtown and has a great outdoor patio to watch sunsets. I've heard the new restaurant there is good, but personally haven't eaten there since the renovation. There are likely cheaper options out there but I like the hotel a lot

Don't toy with FD, do it...great place.

How big is your group? There's a few of hotels in the downtown area (Hotel Indigo, Delamar, and Park Place), all of which are pretty pricey in the summer, but you can walk into downtown from there. A lot of the other hotels are along US-31 in the East Bay, where you'd need to drive or take Uber/Lyft/taxi into town if you're looking to do that kind of thing. I'd recommend renting a house on AirBnB/VRBO so you can have your own space to hang out outside, and you can grill or whatever if you don't want to eat out the whole time.

We’ll be a group of 8.  Been looking for a nice Airbnb but haven’t found an ideal one yet.  At the moment we are booked into the turtle creek casino as a back up

I deal with the same thing every year, trying to find a house for a group of 8. The big challenge is always finding a place that has 8 actual beds for everyone, and that is especially hard to find around the bigger destination cities up there.

Exactly that’s our problem as well.  Well most likely just stick with the casino given their proximity to downtown as well as 8 beds (via 4 rooms).  We’ll be playing the bluffs course twice, south course once and bay harbor quarry and links once.

Major road construction in Traverse City this summer. Getting around is going to be tough. You may want to familiarize yourself with the routes east of TC for your trip(s) to Arcadia. Shouldn't be a problem going north.
