Things to do in AZ

I’m going to AZ (staying in phoenix) with my dad and gf at the end of February. We already have the courses picked out but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations of other things to do in AZ, good restaurants and or places to visit. Thank you all for the help!

If you feel like driving Karcher caverns is a neat place to visit it is east of Tucson.

There are a million things to do. What do you enjoy doing other than golfing? Where in Phoenix will you be staying?

I’m coming from Canada so honestly anything new or different I’m interested in trying. We are saying near pointe tapatio. I was thinking maybe a college hockey game.

Karchner Caverns would be cool but quite a drive. Still a long drive, but not as far is Sedona. Plenty of good hikes around Phoenix if that is of interest.

I'm just a tourist so somebody might know a better spot but if you're into hiking there's a short hike up to the top of "A" Mountain at ASU that has some really nice views and you get to watch planes going in/out of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport.

If you are willing to drive to Tuscon. I would recommend the Pima Air and Space Museum. That's a whole day. You need to be able to walk/stand for several hours as you tour around the hangers and the outside yards.

Possibly catch a Coyotes game at Mullet Arena which is ASU's space. It's a pretty cool experience to see an NHL game in such a small venue. Hike up North Mountain right next door the Point or jump over to Dreamy Draw and hike/run around there. Not too much further on the southeast side of Dream Draw is Piestewa peak which is one of the best hikes and viewpoints in all the valley.

A lot of good eats over off Central and 7th Street. Highly recommend the burger, and all the food, at Aftermath which is down the road at 16th St and Bethany Home. Also in that area is Richardson's which is some of the bet New Mexican food in AZ. Another phenomenal foodie dinner spot would be Persepshen which is down off Central and Camelback area.

As mentioned there are tons of activities. I am an outdoors guy myself. Feb is great for trailriding on mountain bikes. You can rent a bike and the shop can point you to some great desert trails, many have trailhead dropoff. Lots of areas have ATV rentals for desert running. Many will meet you at the trailhead so you wont need to trailer an ATV. Some great sporting clays tracks with Shotgun rentals available. Hummer tour through sedona area. Really great hiking with expansive vistas (too many to list). Horseback desert riding (lazy man hiking:). Pretty much any activity you can think of a tourist can do, so it really depends on what your are wanting to do.
