Best way to estimate how many PGA events a player will start in

I'm in a golf pool and am putting together a few teams. The format for a team is based on last years earnings and there is a $45MM cap per team.

 

One of my teams is built around some big guns (Scottie - $21MM, Collin - $7.5MM, Cantlay - $10.3MM). The remaining guys are all low earners (to fit within the $45MM cap) but this gets tricky because you run the risk of selecting guys who won't play in many/any tournaments.

 

For instance, Cody Gribble. He had decent strokes gained stats OTT last year and only made $640k, so he is a great pick from a budget perspective. But will he even play in any tournaments this year? Is there a simple way to estimate how many starts he might get?

Cody finished 146 in the FedEx so he'd be in category 32a to start the year. That's pretty far down the list but looking at the guys in that spot last year, they all got 30+ starts. Will be all the lower tier and opposite field events of course.

So looking at category 20 (Top 125 on prior year's fedexcup list), these guys would likely get the most high tier starts?

Yes, though have to be top 50 to be eligible for the 8 "signature" events

Guys in the conditional status 126-150 which Cody is in will be lucky to play 20 events this season 

 

Currently the 30th KFT grad is the last guy into Sony. Means Q school 5 then 126-150 are next. 
 

Also really depends on field size and what tournament it is.
