Why so Popular on Champions Tour?
I was wondering why these things are just all over the champions tour.

I have one, and I can say, after much putting woes my has given me confidence I never thought of. Not saying there arent better feeling putters. For instance, my Ping Becu original anser. Anser feels 10/10 compared to rife maybe 8/10. But the technology, which really basically cured my skidding problem has turned me. Which was my largest fault, skipping longish putts a bit.

Are the Champions tour players playing perhaps greens which are a hair longer/slower? I played Eisenhower Red a few days after the CTour came here to LI last year and they were fast - but not like lightning.

What kind of use on the PGA tour are these putters seeing?

Thanks.

I have a RIFE Aussie in black. I really like it. I also had an Odyssey #9 which I loved but the RIfe kicked it out of the bag. I have been on a putter kick lately and also bought a Cameron Newport 2.5 used it one round and it was not anywhere near as nice (to me) as the RIFE. The Cameron is now on ebay. I have a Byron coming and am very much looking foward to it. I will used the Byron, but the RIfe will not be sold like the other putters I had. I am very happpy with the Rife, I know my putter collection will only be 3 of my favs, the RIFE, Odyssey 9 and Byron.

Rife makes a very very good putter. Their customer service is also really great if you ever have any question. I only own 4 of them, asI am not a fan too much of the newer models, but here are mine.

I to love the rife putters. Ive heard that a few of the Champions Tour players have a financial intrest in the company and that it why they are so popular as they cater to the players needs on that tour.

On another note, the 2 Bar Blade putter is the best putter Ive ever played yet the adjustable lie shaft was terrible. I had three different ones and could keep the lie how I wanted it because they were so easily bent. Now the Barbados that I am testing right now is really nice.

The company name may be Guerin Rife Putters, LLC, However over the last few years they have marketed under the name Rife Putters. Guerin Rife is the name of the putter designer. Jim Thorpe at one time (perhaps still does) had interest in the Orlando based company (ironically he rarely uses one). Justin Rose, 2007 Order of Merit Champion, uses a Barbados model, he switched from the Mr. Beasley model. They get occasional use on the PGA Tour from Fred Funk, Chad Campbell, Richard S. Johnson. I believe on the Champions Tour they share Tour van space with Adams Golf, which could expand their exposure. It seems that on the Champions Tour that if one player has success with a particular product the other players are sure to give it a try.

The roll is fantastic and you can make the 2-bar versions anywhere from 345g-365g.

I would think one reason Senior Tour guys change putters and some other single clubs, is allot more of them don't have a contract to play a putter. I would imagine more full time guys on the Regular tour have contracts to play certain putters (I read somewhere that Cameron pays $75000 a year for a Tour player that uses his putters, don't know how true that is). I think the guys with bigger company contracts have in their contracts to use the same companies putters. If this is a reason then that may explain why the senior guys switch to lesser known sticks.

Just a thought.

Currently bagging the Barbados. Smooth, sweet roll! Also have a Mr Beasley as backup. Awesome putters plus, they don't cost an arm & leg.

Wow, when was the Mid mallet released? I must find one of those. I have a Mr Beasley, but like the looks of this more. Kind of a combo of a Bettinardi BC-03 and the Rife face. Excellent!

I have my own theory on why the old boys use the RIFE is because of the grooves on the front. The old lads are probably all having trouble with their eye sight so if they dont put a headcover on the putter, just running their fingers over the face the brail feeling it gives off signifies to them it is their flat stick.

My $0.02 :P

I have a 2 Bar Blade "Dana edition" and it is out of this world. To have the adjustibility of the weight and to be able to adjust the lie makes all the difference. I am not sure why more people don't give it a try.
