Looking for swing advice

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

After a few months around here, I've decided to seek advice about my swing. First, a bit of context: I'm from Barcelona, Spain, and I've been playing for about 3 years, but practicing every day. I'm at a point where I can have really good days and really bad days. Still, I can't seem to establish a good feeling with my swing. I feel like something is off but I can't pinpoint what it is.

Maybe dealing with early extension, hands starting the downswing... but I can't figure out where the issue is coming from or how to fix it.

Any swing advice is much appreciated and the direction/main focus in what to work is very welcomed.

On first look you have 0 hip rotation, if you look at the your trail knee it never straightens in the back swing,  at all and your head/sternum is even to slightly behind the ball at impact I would hazard to guess that you catch it thin a lot or very chunky.

I'm sure some of the guys can offer some good advice. You have a good motion but your right arm is too rigid, it needs to be softer.  Relaxed muscles are fast muscles. Don't take my word for it, tense up your body and try to run across the room

Sam Snead - He didn't swing the club wide down the target line, as he turned back the club turned with him.

Thanks, I will work to have more hip rotation in the backswing. And you are right, I tend to catch it thin or chunky, have some problems controlling the low-point. I was aware of the fact my shoulders/upperbody seems to be falling behind at impact, but not really sure how to fix it. If I try to keep my shoulders more horizontal then I am coming from outside/over the top.

Thanks for this and the reference. I agree I have too much tension, will try soft it a bit!

The center of your pelvis moves toward the ball in the backswing because your right hip doesn’t move.  It has to move away from the ball and behind you.  Practice hip rotation against a wall with no club.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Hi Monte. Many thanks for this, I can see it now.

I have been practiting with no club and hitting balls today (attached video), and I certainly feel the difference. Need to keep working on balance now.
