Taylormade R7 vs Stealth Iron Set

I have reached a point to where i will not be able to practice any longer, so i'm ditching my players irons for a more forgiving set, i used to play a standard set of Taylormade R7 irons back in the day and they worked well and now i came across a set of like new R7's for $350, the Stealth irons have been discontinued and can be had for around $795, for those that hit both, is there a noticeable difference to warrant spending the extra cash?

If it were me, I'd go with the R7s.

I'm cheap and don't think you are losing anything with the R7s vs Stealths. 

 

The loft progression in the R7s should also be closer to what you are currently playing (one would imagine) - making your transition from one iron set to the next a bit easier, IMHO.

 

Not sure what you currently have surrounding your irons in the bag, but depending on the set make-up of the Stealths, you'd probably have to do a bit of finagling at one end or the other to get the gaps to work out with your existing clubs. 

 

But, people do make all sorts of things work. YMMV.

You obviously have taste. This should steer you increasingly towards the R7s and away from the Stealths.

If the R7’s retain their stock steel shafts, they will be quite similar in weight and flex to the Stealth’s. The biggest difference will be lofts. Take a look at them both, then buy the R7’s.

R7…I like less gimmick/techy irons…closer to a single forged the better
