HOLY COW Batman:  Adams CB2 irons still play!!!

I went into this year with the intent of buying new irons to replace my Adams CMBs from 10-12 years ago. Nothing I hit felt worth the $1,400 dollar investment it was going to be to replace them. The only club from my full bag that truly felt better was the new callaway 3 wood, seemed super easy to hit compared to my current and any other new 3 woods.

I've been there. Played CMB for 8 years and finally found an iron that was better last year in the ZX7s. The turf interaction is a game changer. Give them a look if you can. They can be had for 500 or less.

This isn't really a surprise, really. Buying new sets of Irons in search of the perfect game is nearly as old as golf. It's just the cycle of improvement is more efficient now given the expedited ability to design, test, tweak and retest. Material and manufacturing improvements allow for more rapid - but incremental - changes.

While my current Irons are indeed better than the ones I bought in 2005 and just replaced in September; I cannot say they are necessarily so much so that I would be instantly terrible if I picked up the old ones. The clubs themselves are not what I credit for any of my successes or lack thereof.

Sometimes I think folks buy new clubs because they enjoy the process of anticipation. This is why they cannot settle. The irons themselves may be fine, but we've all heard the saying "The have is not as good as the want."

It is an awesome feeling to anticipate the arrival of new golf gear. Today, I just got my new Gen 4 Hzrdus.... I literally checked the tracking three times today.... No reason... The man-child in me was that excited. I suspect if the golfer buying so many irons could suppress that need, they might like the new arrivals more rather than looking for excuses to buy another set. 😄 😄 😄

So many people chase a better game by buying new clubs but then realize their old stuff was just as good if not better. There are even pros playing stuff 10-15 years old, maybe older. If you find something you like and it's working for you then stick with it.

I fell into this trap hard in the last few years, and was constantly tinkering trying to find what works for me. Newer is not always better! ESPECIALLY with a forged muscle cavity players iron.
