Traveling to Seattle for work in March . . . Recommendations?

Hello WRX NW community.  I am going to be flying into Seattle for a conference the second week of March.  Was hoping I could find some place for me and co-worker to get a round in and was looking for recommendations.  We aren't flying with our clubs so would need a course that has rental sets.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

That will limit you to Jefferson, West Seattle, or Interbay which is a short course. Jefferson is where Fred Couples grew up playing. West Seattle has some nice views of downtown. Conditions will be soft this time of year but generally playable. It’s been a somewhat dry winter. I’m playing Jefferson tomorrow and can let you know what the conditions are like if it helps.

Thank you for the tips. Does Jefferson rent clubs?

Another Seattle muni Jackson Park should be included as well.  The only other option I can think of would require a train ride, ferry and a shuttle.   As well as all day.  That would be White Horse.  Not sure about the commuter train schedule since you’d be traveling in the opposite direction

Thanks for suggestion. I will see what my playing partner is up for!

You could pony up ridiculous $180 green fees at Newcastle.  It's a nice course with a great view but imo not worth what they charge. It is probably a 30m drive out of downtown if you're not in rush hour. The other courses mentioned here are not that much closer to get to (time wise).

I'd avoid Newcastle like the plague, personally. Wildly overpriced, not going to be well conditioned in March. I'd advise sticking to one of the munis - Jackson, Jefferson, West Seattle.

Jefferson and West Seattle very likely rents clubs. Jefferson will be about 10 min from the convention center, West Seattle about 15 min.

Jefferson was in very decent shape yesterday. Greens were slow as expected for this time of year but very playable.

I strongly agree with the last few comments about Newcastle... I've never met someone who liked it and didn't live within 5 min of there and have a membership. It would also take about 30-45 min to get there.

Don't go to Jackson. It's the course I grew up playing and is still the closest to where I live. There are some days I reconsider playing if it's the only option. Just please don't go there.

Keep in mind, this is just golf, not destination golf.  I'd have to be really craving a round to take the time and money to play any of the Seattle munis.  Add to that, March is wet.  Not sure if its the rainiest month, but has to be top 12 rainiest months at least!  I would check out Hotel 1000.  They have a couple simulator bays.  Don't know if they have clubs or not, but I'm sure the information is available.

Why not stay an extra night and play at Chambers Bay?

Of all the options, if it's palatable, ^^ this is the right answer.

Yeah, I'll second the last few comments. I think the answer is don't play.  Seattle golf is below average in general.  Chambers is awesome, but most everything else can be skipped.  You're in Seattle, spend you time and money going to the ocean or seeing one of the great cities on the US.  Even the generic tourist stuff in Seattle (Pike Place, West Seattle beach, Ballard locks, etc.) is good.

another option, especially for March. Unless you're absolutely jonesing to play, there's nothing that's a must see outside Chambers that's within an hour of the city.
