Ping Wedges

What are everyone's thought's on Ping wedges? I have never played them but like the look, and they feel good on full swings. Don’t really have a spot to test them greenside. I have been an avid vokey guy my entire life, but the pings have me intrigued. I’m looking at the new standard shaped s159s, and the glide forged. But just an overall curiousness on their wedges in general.

I can't compare them to Vokey wedges but I have played Ping wedges for many years.

Switched from Cleveland 588.

Most of the time I have matched my irons but I have played Eye2 + with different iron sets.

Currently I am playing  Glide 4 Eye2 grind in 54 and 58, too new for a really extensive review.

Overall my short game is the best part of my game and I have always been happy with Ping wedges.

I made the switch to PING wedges with the Glide 2.0 stealth. Then went to the 3.0.  I’m really looking forward to the S159’s. I have enjoyed them for full swings, pitches and around the greens. Even the SS has enough versatility to open up the face and not raise the leading edge too much. I find them very comfortable around the greens and even in tight lies.

Good luck. I think you’ll be pleased.

Hit them recently, they felt way softer than expecting on full swings. Beat every other wedge on full swing feel except Mizuno and mayyyyybe Edel. Unless you need the low bounce of the T I think they are probably even edging Vokey in the quality of their grinds at this point, though I probably need to try a D grind to say that given the universal praise I’ve heard on that one.

I’ve played Vokeys for the past several years. Switched to S159 recently and love them! Glad I took a chance on these.

I went 50s, 56s, 60h. Perfect set up for me.

I have dabbled with a couple Ping wedges over the years and did not care for them particularly. But then again, having played the vast majority of my golf the past 20 years with Vokey wedges, I tend to be underwhelmed with anything else I try so I must be basically a creature of habit.

Not very helpful feedback, I'll admit...

I've just recently switched from Mizuno S23 to Ping Glide 4.0, since the Pings have been on sale as shops move them out to make space for the S159s. I really liked my S23 wedges, but I prefer the Glide 4.0. The hydropearl finish offers really amazing performance in the wet—the Mizuno wedges offer good wet performance, but Ping is truly best-in-class. I've noticed I've been getting a lot more check with the Pings, especially out of the rough.

I go 50-54-58. Currently, my 50* is still Mizuno S23, but I'm looking to replace it with a Glide 4.0 before they're all gone. I've got Ping Glide 4.0 54*(12*W) and 58* (6*T). The 54* is the first high-bounce wedge that I've ever been able to effectively use, as I have a super shallow swing that usually doesn't get along well with high bounce.

I feel like these days all the wedges are so good, just need to find the one that fits your preferences/swing.  With that being said, I think Ping has come a long way with their wedges.  Last season after using Vokeys primarily for my 20+ year golfing career, I switched my 50 and 54 wedges from Vokey SM9s to Glide 4.0s.  The shapes and dry conditions performance are pretty much the same, but what actually sold me on the Pings was its better performance in wet conditions.  At the time, my only gripe was that I wish Ping had more grind options in their 58/60 wedges, but now they have now addressed that with their S159 release.  I cant wait to check out the new grinds in stores!

Tried the Glide 4.0s - they were okay. Generally haven’t been a Ping wedge fan either. I’ve not been a Vokey fan since the SM6 and went to some awesome wedges from Joe Kwok thanks to SM7.  Now have a couple TM High Toes that are mostly taking up space.

I’m going to give the SM10s a good test when things warm up.
