Irons

Looking for a new set of irons, currently a 3 handicap decent ball ball striker. Miss is toe side. Swing the 7 at about 85-88 on recent sim session.

Unfortunately, new work situation won't be playing as much but want to get the most out of my rounds. What irons should I be looking at?

What are your must have features in a set of irons?

This is WRX, so I'm assuming zero offset (possibly even onset). But what else?

Definitely take a look at cobra king CB or king tours, both look very good and are pretty forgiving for the type of iron they are, I really enjoy mine, toe side strikes aren’t punished too bad.

I had Mizuno 223/221 before these and they weren’t good for toe strikes, don’t know if that is a thing with Mizuno irons in general or just me, but potentially look for something with some tungsten weighting on the toe side (i230 maybe?)

Mizuno 923 - I have the forged, the Tours are good as well. Feel great, forgiving. 5.8 hcp FWIW - only used them a short time but what a difference from my Apex 21. Had the Srixon zx7 when they first came out - these are miles better.

Mizuno JPX tour or any MP anything except the blade.

Find a good fitter and go have some fun!!! Club champion of you get a good fitter. You can just about anything available. Just didn't buy from them. Order them elsewhere.

Given your handicap range I'd say Srixon ZX7, Titleist T150, Ping I230, Mizuno 243, and Cobra King Tour would fit the bill. TaylorMade P770 is also an option if you'd like a hollow head design with a bit more pop. Sleeper pick would be a good old used set of Ping I210s -- probably one of the most forgiving players irons ever made.
