so to understand this correctly.. you had a set of Game Improvements and now you have a combo Srixon ZX set? Well of course they will be a bit of a learning curve, but without knowing where your misses are etc.. its hard to tell you.

GI irons are meant to cover up alot of mistakes. As you move more into the players type of irons, your mistakes will be way more noticeable. IE, Do you hit the ball first vs ground first?

I would suggest you film yourself and see where you need to improve.. also a lesson would help too.

You're really not giving us much to go on.  However - here's where I can at least give you my input since:

- We play the same golf ball.

- We play the same shaft.

- My combo set is the zx4 MK 2 (4 & 5) and ZX7 OG 6-AW.

I'm 65 and my handicap is a 5.    I preferred distance is 6500-6700 yards.   My 150–153-yard club is an 8 iron.

I will tell you that I love the ZX7/Modus 105 stiff combo set up.  If you think the shaft is too stout, then you should go with the KBS Tour Lite in stiff.   Increased height and spin with this shaft but the shaft are ultra stable for slower swing speeds.     I personally didn't like the ZX5 in either the MK 2 or OG.    I hit the ZX7 much better that the ZX5.  The new ZX5 MK 2 irons are dull to feel for me.   Some would say they are ckicky.

However, the ZX4 MK2 long irons have really improved my game.  I'm saving at least 2-3 strokes per round.  They go straight and long.  The ZX7's are stupid crazy forgiving.  My good hits are on the green.  My bad hits are around the green.    The ZX7's are precision irons which I expect to get my par/birdie chances.

You have to ask: Did you get fitted.  If not - that's a problem.  If yes - then you have to dive deeper.  Meaning was your fitting off grass or a matt.  With Srixon's V-sole fittings off a matt is a bad idea.  You have to hit them off grass.  Most fittings are off a 7 iron.  You could have hit them great during your fitting.  Doesn't mean that you can hit the 4, 5, or 6 irons.  If you got fit -why the ZX5's over a set of all ZX4's since they are more suited to a GI long distance club.

Like the previous reply - you need to give us more info to get to the right path for correction.  You don't even say what the split was between the ZX5's and ZX7's.
