Need help identifying my Yamada

Hi everyone,

I picked up my first Yamada putter a few months back however I have not seen an identical putter anywhere on the internet. I think it is one of the handmade Emperor II but it has no sight dot/line and also nothing on the sole of the putter. I plan on putting a shaft in it later this week and plan on gaming it to start the year. I was wondering if anyone has any information or insight on this putter.

Could be a custom Emperor, believe some people could get customs from Yamada-san or could be a tour putter that was mistaken as something regular.

Absolutely nothing about that is handmade. That is 100% straight off of a CNC. That being said, it’s a beautiful putter

A hand had to put it in the CNC and press start, that's Handmade to some 😂

Frankly im not familiar with the difference. I had assumed it was one of the handmade one because of the headcover. What are the giveaways to make you so sure that it is cnc? I did not pay very much for the head and had been looking for a blade with not alignment so it does not make a difference to me. More-so just curious about the origins of this putter.

If it was cnc, I would think that would mean the putter was be mass-produced and therefore I would be able to find a replica somewhere on the internet? That was my thought at least but I am not familiar with the process which these putters are made.

Most of his putter he called “handmade” were 100% CNC. On that one you simply can’t create a one piece milled head with those curves manually. Every single surface still has its mill marks which means it most likely didn’t even see a buffer. Combine that with the engraved face milling (vs with an actual face mill) it’s pretty obvious to anyone with machining experience. He’s not the only one who throws “handmade” around on heads that are without a doubt CNC, buts he probably did it the most frequently

Ohhhh I understand. I mistook your original comment as saying that the putter is from the machine-milled collection rather than the "handmade" collection but I realize you just mean that Yamadas "handmade" putters are not typically handmade in the traditional sense.

I sure hope so! The idea that it could be a custom is pretty neat however would be basically impossible to figure out if that is the case. Gonna bag it to start the year and see how it rolls.
