(Great) Big Bertha 23

whats the difference between the two BBs from 23?

 

i dont get it… the GBB was/is much more expensive

I think probably tech and materials (the GBB being more premium). I tested out the 3 woods for the BB and GBB when I was looking for a more forgiving 3/4 wood. BB was 16* stock, GBB was 15* stock. The BB at 16* seemed higher launching and shorter than the GBB lofted up to 16*. No real difference in forgiveness.

 

Long and the short, the GBB was more powerful and just better for me, and happened to form a perfect synergy with my existing AD VR 3 wood shaft. The BB seemed more GI oriented and really designed to help maybe slower swingers launch the ball, and so on. YMMV.

2023 Big Bertha line is the direct replacement for the B21 line, which was a huge success for Callaway except people did not like the heavy offset on the fairway woods. The B21 driver was unique in how it was a draw biased driver but had internal weighting to cut spin for faders. The driver was great and so was the 3 wood. Lots of people still playing them. 
 

The Big Bertha fairways lost all the offset and look really good. The heads are low profile but not huge. I looked at them today next to the Qi10 and the Big Bertha looks good. The 3 wood and 5 wood are adjustable so spin can be tweaked. And this line is on sale now, kind of overlooked. With the clean look they look better from address than the two-piece look of the AI Smoke. I can play either but clean looks better. 

BB 3 wood left, Qi10 Max on right. To my eye the Max is just too stretched.
